Silver-haired sportsman left viewers at home shocked when he dropped the F-bomb
OLYMPIC medallist and pundit Mark Foster has been forced to apologise for dropping the F-bomb live on the BBC.
The television star, 46, unexpectedly said “f*** it” on Tuesday night as he noticed his ear piece was hanging out during the pre-watershed coverage of the swimming.
And viewers were left fuming as the BBC failed to censor the swear word which aired at 6.19pm and was watched by an audience of over four million.
Acknowledging Mark’s explicit language, a BBC spokeswoman said: “Whilst unaware that his mic was still live, Mark accepts he shouldn’t have said it and he apologises for any offence caused.”
The former competitive swimmer swore after 33-year-old Helen Skelton, who has sported a series of racy outfits during the reporting of Rio 2016, introduced the first heat of the men’s 4x200m relay.
As he played with his ear piece, Mark said: “F*** it I’ve not got my ear in”.
Producers then swiftly switched the sound off as coverage went silent for a few seconds following Mark’s potty-mouthed behaviour.
Mark’s rude outburst comes after his co-star Rebecca Adlington, 27, appeared to tell Mark to “f*** off” on Tuesday.
She made the remark when Mark teased her about “only winning a bronze” medal at the London Games in 2012 – despite picking up two golds in Beijing.
Outraged viewers swiftly tweeted their shock at what they thought they had heard, with one user posting: “More BBC swimming commentary fun. Rebecca Adlington just told Mark Foster to f*** off.
“Luckily it’s around 3.20am in the UK.”
Despite this, others dismissed reports that she used an expletive and argued that she had just said “back off”.
Another said: “Rebecca Adlington clearly says ‘BACK off’, no ambiguity.”
