Dunkirk extra ruins first trailer by SMIRKING during enemy air strike

The aspiring actor was clearly enjoying his big screen moment a little bit too much

COMPOSITE-SMILING

AN extra has been accused of ruining the hotly-anticipated first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.

While many fans were upset that it didn’t feature Harry Styles – others were more concerned about one extra who looked rather excited at the prospect of being bombed.

In the shot a group of soldiers can be seen cowering as a plan swooped over them but while most of them looked utterly terrified, one aspiring actor couldn’t resist looking upwards – and giving a little grin in the process.

Eagle-eyed viewers instantly clocked his cheeky face and took to Twitter to mock why someone would be so cheery about an impending attack.

One person remarked: “Dunkirk extra looking positively delighted about prospect of being bombed by Nazis.”

Another tweeted: “Now my eyes gravitate to that not so "in the moment" extra in the Dunkirk teaser every single time.”

While someone else went on to brand it the “worst extra fail ever”.

And even a fellow extra has come out to slam his co-star – claiming it was a completely ‘immersive’ experience and he was surprised annoying could look anything but scared.

He wrote: “I don't know how an extra can laugh during a scene in #Dunkirk ! The immersion was so real that you have the impression of living the war.”

Dunkirk tells the story of Operation Dynamo, the attempted rescue of thousands of Allied forces who were cut off and surrounded by German troops in 1940.

The mission is one of the most incredible stories of World War II, which Winston Churchill described as turning a "colossal military disaster" into "a miracle of deliverance."

Dunkirk's big name cast includes Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Cillian Murphy.
