Katie Waissel’s mum calls for cops to probe Christopher Biggins after CBB Nazi gag
Diana Waissel has branded the 67-year-old panto star's comments a "hate crime" saying she was "absolutely disgusted" by the remarks
CBB star Katie Waissel's mum has called for cops to probe Christopher Biggins over the sick Nazi gag that saw him hoofed off the show.
Diana Waissel has branded the 67-year-old panto star's comments a "hate crime" saying she was "absolutely disgusted" by the remarks.
Biggins was booted off the show by Channel 5 bosses after receiving three warnings over "offensive" remarks.
He exclusively revealed in The Sun that he made a "joke" about a concentration camp to Jewish housemate Katie.
He said: “You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room.”
The Panto star now admits that he was making a joke about Nazis, who gassed Jews in shower blocks.
He said: “I suppose I was, yes. But it didn’t occur to me that’s what I was referring to.”
Biggins' short time on the show has been mired in controversy with him also being pulled up on comments he made about AIDS and bisexuals.
“Our whole family have a proud Jewish heritage and are absolutely disgusted by Biggins.
“But he’s not just hurt my daughter. It sounds like he’s said things offensive to most Jews.
“He was a national treasure but now he’s not fit for TV. He should be banned – he’s a liability.”
Diana went on to say how she had been in tears over her daughters ordeal and desperately wanted to give Katie a hug.
Katie's grandparents were held at Nazi death camp Auschwitz and the singer has a star of David tattooed on her ankle.
Biggins' comments were cut from the show by Channel 5 but rumours began to leak out on Friday of his allegedly anti-Semitic remarks.
Bosses made the decision to axe the former porridge star later that day following talks with production company Endemol Shine.
