Speaking to Emma Willis about being evicted, the 55-year-old said: "It all went terribly wrong somewhere.

";It’s really mixed emotions. I desperately didn’t want to be the first out. I don’t have the vocabulary to explain to you what it is like in there.

"It plays tricks on your mind, you are second guessing everything."

He continued: "I’m glad to be back in the realms of normality and to see my children."

The first evictee went on to say that he thought a lot of people were playing games.

"I don’t know what you’ve seen – whatever you have seen is me. I had no strategy," he said.

"You sit there and everyone is behaving normally and then someone sees an opportunity to be on the telly.

Grant and James went up for nomination after receiving the most number of nominations from their housemates.

Talk Sport star James racked up the most - after Frankie, Lewis, Chloe, Grant, Marnie, Renee, Ricky, Aubrey, Katie, Bear and Heavy D all put him up.

Grant came a close second after being nominated by Frankie, Biggins, James, Saira, Ricky, Aubrey, Katie and Renee.

Speaking about the prospect of losing his place, Grant - who was married to Anthea Turner - said: "Facing eviction is really unpleasant. It’s like having a big thunderstorm over your heart. I haven’t been acting, I haven’t got a game plan.

"If the public decide they have had enough of me then I deserve to go."

During the live eviction the two men were giving a chance to persuade the public to keep them in.

Going first Grant - who has grown close to Marnie in the house - said:“Being in BB has been extraordinary and I have been able to spend time with some very extraordinary and talented people from all walks of life.

“It has bought things out of me that I never thought it would.”

James went next and while the crowd booed, he sarcastically said: “Obviously I am the most exciting the Big Brother house has seen for some time and I can’t really imagine that British public could really not want to see more.”

The eviction comes just hours after Christopher Biggins was kicked out of the house after making offensive comments.
