Jodie Turner-Smith robbed of over £8k of jewellery in Cannes hotel theft
THIEVES stole more than £8,000 of jewellery from actress Jodie Turner-Smith’s hotel room.
The Anne Boleyn star, 34, may have been targeted after she was seen wearing precious gems at Cannes the night before, it is thought.
She was at breakfast in the five-star Marriott Hotel on Friday morning when burglars plundered her room.
They stole jewellery worth more than £8,000, including her mother’s wedding ring, sources have claimed.
The Peterborough-born star had been at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of her new film, After Yang.
She later tweeted: “I didn’t think I would be spending 2.5 hours in the police station on my final day in Cannes, but here we are.”
Last night, speculation was rife she was targeted after wearing stones from the Gucci High Jewellery line, including a diamond-encrusted gold necklace, on the red carpet on Thursday.
However it is understood that the precious pieces were returned before the burglary.
The door to her room reportedly showed no sign of forced entry. The actress is believed to have been given bodyguards after the break-in and was switched to another hotel.

The Marriott said it would assist police in their investigation, adding: “The security of our guests is our top priority.”
It is not the first jewellery heist to hit the world-famous festival. In 2013, £100million worth of jewellery was stolen from the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel by armed robbers.
Representatives for Ms Turner-Smith did not comment.
