‘I WAS MORTIFIED!’ An embarrassed Adele tells her fans how her credit card was DECLINED in a high street store
The multi-millionaire was left red-faced after the till mishap in H&M
SHE may be one of the richest women in the world – but that didn’t stop Adele’s credit card being declined in a high street store.
The multi-millionaire pop star told her fans how she was left absolutely mortified after her payment was refused by her bank.
The star is currently on tour in the US and speaking at her show ahead of her gig at San Jose’s SAP arena on Sunday night, she told the audience: “I went to H&M and my card got declined. Oh my days, pretty embarrassing.
“Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified.”
She then insisted she was able to make some purchases in nearby store, Sephora, but her embarrassment wasn’t over.
Her dachshund Louis then tried to start a fight with another dog and she added: “My dog tried to claw another dog.
“My trip to H&M was great... but no one knew it was me so I think I’m going to get away with it.”
But despite her bulging bank balance, Adele is known for her bargain shopping and back in February, was seen in a branch of discount chain Target in Los Angeles dressed down and make-up free as she shopped.
And while in Glasgow the following month, she was seen buying trainers for her son in Smyths and a member of staff told the press: ““We didn’t recognise her at first until the person who served her came back and said, ‘Am I really serving Adele?”
The 28-year-old singer also used to be a fan of Primark and remarked earlier this year: “I used to shop at Primark for my knickers all the time. I loved going there and getting some bargains.”
Adele is on tour in the US and Canada until early November before she wraps it up in Mexico City.
