FIRST COURTNEY, THEN GRANT… AND NOW JANE! EastEnders fans tweet their excitement about another character return
Ian’s Beale’s wife was released from hospital after his son Bobby tried to murder her
IF seeing Grant Mitchell and his daughter Courtney come back to EastEnders tonight wasn’t enough for fans, Jane Beale also made a return home.
In what could be the soap’s biggest episode in regards to characters returning to the fold, Jane was discharged from hospital and taken back to the Square by her doting husband Ian.
Greeted by Sharon and Kathy, she looked a little overwhelmed after Ian made a huge fuss of her and explained how he’d moved the house round to accommodate her wheelchair.
But while she looked less than thrilled to be back home, fans of the show took to Twitter to share their pleasure at her return.
One wrote, “Glad Jane is back. She’s fab,” while another added: “Jane is home!!”
Another fan said, “Welcome home Jane!” as another chipped in with: “Jane and Grant are both back tonight!!”
One even said how fresh-faced Jane aka actress Laurie Brett looked and wrote: “Jane looks so much younger without make-up.”
And then there were those who showed some sympathy as one wrote, “Jane Beale has had an absolutely torrid time of things #poorjane,” as another added: “Shot by one stepson and couldn't have kids, now paralysed by another. Jane's luck sure cashed in when she married Ian Beale.”
Jane has been in hospital since her adopted son Bobby struck her over the head with a hickey stick in an attempt to kill her.
His evil plan failed and he is now serving time for the attack but she is now confined to a wheelchair and may not walk again – despite one fan’s optimism as they tweeted: “By Christmas, Jane will start walking again.”
Tonight also saw the return of Courtney Mitchell, the daughter of Grant and his late wife Tiffany, after being away from the Square for 10 years.
And then, right at the very end of the episode, her father shows up and comes face-to-face with his former lover Sharon.
