DAVID BRENT SONGBOOK

Ricky Gervais set to shock with lewd song about Princess Diana

Funnyman's new David Brent movie features extended version of 'Paris Nights'

IF you thought RICKY GERVAIS’s Golden Globes speeches were close to the bone, you’ll be even more shocked by his new film David Brent: Life on the Road.

The Brit star has pushed the decency boundaries to new levels by penning a song about PRINCESS DIANA in which he references anal sex.

The track, called Paris Nights, originally started on the telly series The Office, has been extended for the film to include the crude reference in relation to her efforts to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Referring to the late Royal, Brent sings: “You hugged a man with full-blown AIDS, To show the world you can’t catch it that way, It’s only spread via blood, By sharing needles that are infected, Another way is having anal sex with strangers unprotected.”

In a foreword about the track in the David Brent Songbook, he said: “It’s the second verse where some of the most powerful imagery and insightful messages are.”

But there are plenty more contentious lyrics throughout the soundtrack to the film, which is out on August 19.

On the track Don’t Cry It’s Christmas he mocks an orphan with a terminal illness, joking the child won’t live long enough to get a delivery from Santa Claus.

He sings: “Santa’s on his way, Though he’s got a billion children, He’s only got one day, You’ve got slightly less than that, If I were you I’d pray.”

And on Please Don’t Make Fun of the Disableds he describes sufferers of ME as “the ones who feel tired” then says, “We all feel tired.”

In another line he sings about those who are “mental in the head or mental in the legs” and describes the disabled as “basically a head on a pillow.”

Knowing Ricky, I’m sure these songs are only the tip of the iceberg for all of the controversial antics in the film.
