Emmerdale stars mock Coronation Street cast for grumbling about going to six episodes a week
Liam Fox and Nick Miles poked fun at fellow ITV soap during This Morning appearance
EMMERDALE actors Liam Fox and Nick Miles have mocked the Coronation Street cast over their anger at the soap going to six episodes a week.
The plans were introduced for the ITV serial drama to increase its weekly output from 2017 with the arrival of new producer Kate Oates.
Kate has admitted the stars were concerned about the prospect of giving up their weekends to accommodate the new plans, but during an appearance on Thursday's This Morning, Liam and Nick teased their rivals about their misgivings.
When host Ruth Langsford mentioned that the Emmerdale cast already do six shows a week, Nick - who plays Jimmy King - scoffed, saying: "Piece of cake isn’t it?"
As the actor jokingly rubbed his collar with his knuckles, Ruth asked: "Do you have no sympathy for them then?"

Liam, who plays Dan Spencer in the Dales, said: "Nah you just get on with it."
Ruth joked back: "It’ll be seven for you now you’ve said that, your producer will be there going ‘right! If they think it’s that easy we’ll do seven’."
The Emmerdale actors' mocking comes after their former boss Kate admitted: "With things like weekend work, which it was reported that the cast were very worried about, that has been raised as an issue.
“But we’re going to work against doing that if we possibly can.”
When cast member Jack P. Shepherd appeared on This Morning last month, he admitted to being a bit unsure about the plans.
He said: ""Extra episodes next year , six episodes, I’m not sure how the schedule will cope but yeah.
"It’ll be interesting, we’ll see."
It was later reported the 28-year-old, who plays David Platt on the Weatherfield soap, had refused to meet with Kate to discuss future plots.
Speaking at a Coronation Street press conference in Manchester, he told : “She tried but I never chat to any producer about what’s coming up because I don’t like to.
“When she came in, she said, ‘Let’s go have a chat and talk about storylines’ and I went, ‘No!’
“I feel as though it’s their job to give me [storylines]."
