Chris Hughes joins Tinder because he hasn’t been on a date since split from Jesy Nelson

CHRIS Hughes has joined Tinder in a bid to find love - after failing to date since his split from Jesy Nelson.

The 28-year-old Love Islander and former Little Mix singer, 30, called it quits at the start of the first lockdown - and as the country shut down, Chris struggled to meet anyone new.

He’s now hoping the famous app will help him land a new lady after an “abysmal” twelve months, as he tells us he’s ready to date again.

Speaking to The Sun Online, Chris admitted: “I haven’t been on a date atll. You chat to people and meet people but I've been busy with work.

“ I haven’t got anyone on my radar at the minute in terms of dating.

“It’s not like I have dated, I haven’t even been on a date.”

Chris has spoken in the past about his upset over his split from Jesy, but is now in a good place.

He explained: “It’s more that I haven’t had the opportunity to, I am ready to date but I haven’t met the person who I want to take out.”

The racing pundit, who has a verified profile on the app, added: “Obviously the last 12 months have been abysmal in terms of trying to actually meet people and date. I am looking forward to meeting new people. 

“I have been in a couple of relationships over the last two or three years, I haven’t actually been on many dates at all. It’s quite nice now that restrictions are easing slightly and you can start to meet up with people.”

Chris is hoping to find a relationship as “fun” as the one he had with Jesy.

The pair have remained close since their break up, with Chris telling us: “We are still good friends, we still talk. 

“She has told me all about her music plans and I’m excited to hear her new music and I can’t wait for that to be released. She is going to smash that. 

“We still talk, we are still friends, it's really nice, it’s the nice thing about our relationship.”

As well as joining Tinder, Chris will be taking part in Swipe Island on the app, a virtual “Casa Amor” where anyone on the app can come to crack on with other singletons - including eight ex Love Islanders.

Chris will be joined in Swipe Island by Kaz Crossley, Demi Jones, Amy Hart, Curtis Pritchard, Anton Danyluk, Ched Uzor and Eve and Jess Gale. 

Join Swipe Island on Tinder between 8-10pm on Monday 28th and throughout the summer
