Police launch investigation after This Morning presenter Rylan Clark receives an ISIS death threat on Facebook
A homophobic comment was reportedly made after Joey Essex lookalike Sam Barton posted a picture of him and the Big Brother’s Bit On The Side star
RYLAN Clark was at the centre of homophobic ISIS threat after he posed for a photo with a Joey Essex lookalike.
Sam Barton, who spent thousands on trying to look like his Towie hero, tweeted the snap of him and the This Morning presenter, but it was reposted on Facebook where a serious comment was reportedly made.
The 24-year-old shared the pic after he appeared on Rylan’s show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.
However, Sam was shocked when it was re-posted on another Facebook account with the caption:
"Where are IS when you need them? Two gays I would like to harpoon in one spot."
Police have since launched an investigation
Sam told the Express: "What shocked me most is that it got about 30 likes and 25 comments, some of them saying how funny it was, before he got scared and took it down."
He continued: "I don't see the funny side of joking about ISIS death threats.
“I take a lot of abuse for who I am and the opinions I air and I am used to receiving abuse from trolls.
"But, I thought this homophobic comment was particularly nasty and had gone too far so I contacted police. I am pleased they are taking this seriously."
After reporting the post to Facebook, Sam got this reply: "We've reviewed the post you reported for harassment and feel it doesn't violate our community standards."
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a complaint of an alleged hate crime incident and have made an appointment to visit the complainant Sam Barton on August 1."
