Geoffrey Hayes

Best known for his starring role as the presenter of classic kids' TV show Rainbow, Geoffrey Hayes is these picking up fares as a cab driver.

Geoffrey, who began presenting the show in 1974, fell from fame when he struggled to find employment after the show was axed from screens in 1991.

But that's not all - Geoffrey has also tried his hand at shelf-stacking.

The former presenter was spotted by fans working at a supermarket shortly after Rainbow ended.

Jeremy Edwards

Jeremy Edwards is most famous for his roles on both Hollyoaks and Holby City, and became a familiar screen presence between 1995 and 2003.

He also appeared on Lily Savage's Blankety Blank and took part in the third series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2005.

Since then, he has been more or less absent from our TV screens and to earn extra money, he has taken on work as a labourer.

Connie Booth

The brains behind (and one of the stars of) classic John Cleese comedy Fawlty Towers, Connie Booth has also traded fame for a very different field of work.

When she ended her acting career in 1995, Booth - who played Polly in the sitcom - began studying in London to become a psychotherapist.

Connie is now an officially registered psychotherapist with the British Psychoanalytic Council.

Kevin Kennedy

Better known as Curly Watts, Kevin Kennedy also no longer works as an actor.

Kevin, 54, was written out of the Coronation Street in 2003.

After that, he worked alongside his wife for Cornstone Recovery Services LTD.

As the company's director, he overseas the distribution of telephone advice and recovery services to the business sector.

His current work is a far cry from Curly's jobs as a paperboy, binman and supermarket manager.

Lee MacDonald

You may recognise Lee MacDonald from the former children's TV hit Grange Hill.

Lee played Zammo McGuire for five years between 1982 and 1987.

Since then, other than cameo appearances, he has ditched TV in favour of working as a locksmith and key cutter.

His shop in Wallington, Surrey, opened in 1999.

Sean Wilson

Cheese connoisseur Sean Wilson has had numerous acting roles in the past.

You're most likely to recognise him from Coronation Street, where he starred for 20 years from 1985 to 2005. However, Sean has also been in both Silent Witness and Waterloo Road.

His talents don't stop there - as well as being a cheese-maker and owning the Saddleworth Cheese Company, Sean has also worked as a chef in several Michelin-starred restaurants.

Gemma Merna

After winning the award for Best Comedy Performance in 2007 at the British Soap Awards, Gemma Merna decided to ditch the spotlight for a completely different type of work.

Her new relaxing job as a yoga teacher is certainly in stark contrast to the rollercoaster ride of experiences that her character Carmel went through in Hollyoaks.

These included the shooting of her groom on her wedding day and a train crash.

Annabel Giles

Former model and co-presenter of ITV's Posh Frocks and New Trousers, Annabel Giles has spoken in depth and openly about her fall from fame.

The 57-year-old has struggled to find work, as many businesses have told the former superstar that she is too famous for a normal job.

It's a struggle that is hard to imagine, but other than momentarily working at the café Choccywoccydoodah in Brighton, Annabel has been unemployed and on benefits.

Chelsie Padley
