Mariah Carey sensationally quits Jay-Z’s management company after huge fight between stars
THE new Mariah Carey album is on the way but there is one man who certainly won’t be on it – Jay-Z.
I can reveal she has sensationally quit the rapper’s management company Roc Nation after a blazing row between the two music superstars.
The pair erupted in a meeting about the future of Mariah’s career that sparked her decision to walk.
It comes three and a half years after she signed a deal to have her career managed by the firm that Jay-Z owns and runs.
A source close to the situation said: “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation.
“She will formally depart in the next few weeks.
“It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.
‘NEXT STEPS’
“Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps.
“There is a heavily R&B- influenced album being finalised at the moment and she is planning a world tour for next year, so she isn’t letting this stand in her way.”
On the website, the singer has already been removed from the list of acts that are represented by the company. Mariah first signed with Roc Nation in November 2017 and since then has released her 30th anniversary album The Rarities as well as her New York Times bestselling memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
She also secured a deal with Apple TV for a festive special and finally got to No1 in the UK with All I Want For Christmas, 26 years after it was released.
Next Friday she will feature on a new song called Somewhat Loved by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
Roc Nation has helped Jay-Z become a billionaire in recent years, with other high-profile clients including Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Megan Thee Stallion and Kelly Rowland. Here’s hoping they get on better with him than Mariah did.

Megan is pick of the crop
MEGAN Fox made shorts work of this outfit during a day out with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly.
The Transformers actress wore nude-coloured hotpants and a crop top as temperatures hit almost 30C in California.
The couple, who have been dating for a year, were also seen snogging by the side of the road.
But while an embarrassing PDA isn’t out of the ordinary for these two, the context was definitely a bit off. Not long before they had their smooch, the pair were pulled over by cops after the rapper was caught riding his motorbike without a helmet.
Kelly got hit with two hefty fines but seemed more interested in playing tonsil tennis with Megan than coughing up the cash.
On Thursday, they were out in the sunshine again – this time enjoying the thrills of the Thunder Mountain rollercoaster at Disneyland, with Megan in a pair of souvenir mouse ears.
Gary’s got it under con-troll
THREE decades in the music industry have done wonders for Gary Barlow.
The Take That singer reveals he has such a thick skin that he can laugh off mean comments from online trolls.
In an exclusive interview, Gary, whose new BBC One show I’m With The Band is available on iPlayer, said: “Let’s be honest, I’m loved by many people – which also means I’m hated by many people. And I know it. I see it now and again, it doesn’t bother me.
“But if you ever want to feel good about yourself, you go on Twitter and read a few things, and you’ll feel great. Why not? For an artist, social media is an extension of your music, I guess.”
Ed makes a comeBeck
ED Sheeran had the Becking of pals when he announced his comeback show yesterday.
The singer, wearing a rainbow jumper, got ex-England captain David Beckham to help him confirm my tale about his gig at Portman Road – home of his beloved Ipswich Town – on June 25. In an Instagram video, David gave him advice ahead of the return at TikTok’s UEFA Euro 2020 show and Ed kissed a Beckham Three Lions shirt.
Colours in their hair: McFly’s paintball fight
IN their pomp McFly were living the, ahem, reckless and wild rock ’n’ roll lifestyle, says Giovanna Fletcher.
The wife of singer Tom reveals he and the lads – Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd – had an indoor paintball fight.
The group, whose songs include Five Colours In Her Hair, did battle inside a London house they shared.
On Jamie Laing and Francis Boulle’s Private Parts podcast she said: “Essentially they were students with money. I went to bed early and I remember being woken up by the guys. They had bought paint guns and they were having a paintball fight in the house.
“They were running around. I was like, ‘Oh, my God’. But those were the fun times.”
The 2020 I’m A Celebrity winner added: “This was a rented house. Needless to say they did not get the deposit back.
“They had to pay majorly.”
Liam’s £30k tab
LIAM Payne got himself in a sticky situation when he managed to rack up a £30,000 bar bill in Brazil.
The singer got the shock tab after making mojitos for his team.
Liam said: “I learned to make cocktails for the crew and at the end of the night was DJing and someone gave me the 30 grand bill.
“I was like, ‘I’m not paying for drinks that I was making for other people’. Didn’t get any tips from the team. I put it on someone else’s room.
“Then I jumped in the pool, forgetting I had expensive shoes on.”
In a chat on Instagram Live, he also talked of how One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson was a bad influence. Liam said: “We once broke into one of the stadiums in America and got chased by a woman on a cop machine, a mall cop-type thing. That was crazy.
“He also left me on my own while I was being arrested nearly by a French policeman who I had to push over, which still scares me. That’s what friends are for.”
A NEW album by singing legend Barbra Streisand is out on August 6, called Release Me 2. It has ten songs and the first single is a Willie Nelson duet called I’d Want It To Be You, which came out yesterday.
