‘It doesn’t matter what everyone else says’: Tom Hiddleston breaks silence on Taylor Swift relationship
The Night Manager star insists that interest in his private life doesn't faze him and stresses the importance of being 'authentic' and 'true to himself'
NIGHT Manager star Tom Hiddleston has finally spoken out about his relationship with Taylor Swift and says the attention surrounding it doesn’t faze him.
Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, the 36-year-old Brit actor said: “I don’t know, it comes down to being authentic.
“Everything you do, you have to make sure you truly believe in it and as long as you know that, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says about it because the nature of being a public figure is that everyone will have an opinion about anything you do, and as long as you know why you’ve done something and you’ve committed to it with authenticity then you’re OK.”
Tom and Shake It Off singer Taylor, 26, got together last month just two weeks after she called time on her 15-month relationship with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, 32.
Since then they have seemed unable to breathe without their latest movements hitting the headlines.
Adding to the interest is the fact that songstress Taylor has been locked in a very public online feud with Kim Kardashian and her rapper husband Kanye West.
Last week Kim, 35, uploaded a video recording of a conversation between Tay-Tay and Kanye.
While Taylor has always maintained that she knew nothing about Kanye’s use of her name in his track Famous, the clip suggests otherwise and soon went viral.
Also adding to Taylor’s woes, her ex Calvin went on the mother of all Twitter rants about her resulting in fans flooding her social media with snake emojis and sending the hashtag TaylorIsOver soaring up the trending topics.
Cal took to social media to hit back at the blonde songstress after it came to light that she had secretly written his recent hit, This Is What You Came For featuring Rihanna.
Tweeting a link to an article, he confirmed: “And she sings on a little bit of it too.
“Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual.
“I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though.
“And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.”
However once the floodgates had been opened, that wasn’t all he had to say on the matter.
Calvin continued in a series of follow up tweets: “Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though.
“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.
“I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry I won’t allow it.
“Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one.”
Signing off as though he were Tiny Tim in a twisted updated version of A Christmas Carol, he concluded: “God bless everyone have beautiful day.”
