Alan Carr’s Grease Night branded ‘cringe’ and ‘awkward’ as live show receives very mixed reviews
The TV presenter hosted a live two hour show about the hit movie
Alan Carr’s latest TV venture Grease Night has been branded a ‘car crash’ from those watching at home.
The presenter hosted a live show dedicated to the hugely popular film along with a series of celebrity guests – including rather excitingly the actress who played Frenchie in the movie.
But the show – which saw one couple crowned Prom King and Queen – received a very mixed reaction from fans.
Like the film, the show was filmed in the a school hall, while live music was played, 50’s dances were performed and tit bits about the 1950s were shown.
Despite the effort that went into the programme, it wasn’t quite electrifying enough – leaving those watching rather confused.
One person remarked: “Oh my god I can’t cope with this it’s so awkward and cringe #GreaseNight.”
Another added: “It’s going be a tough day at the office on Monday for whoever came up with this car crash… #GreaseNight.”
While another cheekily wrote: “Thanks to my local vicar for exorcising my eyeballs after being subjected to Alan Carrs #Grease extravacrapsa tonight.”
However the appearance of Didi Conn who played the lovable waitress Frenchie saved the day for many.
Viewers couldn’t quite believe how similar she looks at the age of 65 after starring in the 1978 film.
“Wow the actress who played Frenchie hasn’t aged at all. She looks exactly as in the film! Great genes or what ???????? #Grease #GreaseNight,” one person tweeted.
And someone else wrote: “Didi Conn aka Frenchie fm #Grease looks great and unlike her co stars she’s escaped the surgeon’s scalpel and is all the better for it!”
