Gay rugby star Keegan Hirst goes on his first date with a man on TV on Celebrity First Dates

RUGBY star Keegan Hirst has bravely gone on his first date with a man, and we all get to watch.

The Batley Bulldogs captain came out as being gay last year and viewers will get to see him paired up with another guy on Celebrity First Dates.

Keegan, who is the first Rugby professional to reveal he is homosexual, is put together with a selfie obsessed personal trainer.

His date, called Paddy, shocks the Rugby ace when he reveals he takes up to 50 pictures of himself a day and since he joined Twitter has posted over 100,000 tweets.

The date continues to get awkward when Paddy makes a joke about the two of them sharing some pineapple, with Keegan replying : “I don’t like pineapple, it’s horrible it tastes like wood. Like actual wood….”

The fitness instructor also makes an innuendo about being “always hungry”.

The Rugby ace does admit to the date being “the first time to the rodeo”.

But by the end of date Keegan doesn’t give too much away about how he feels about Paddy and says: “I thought I was a good talker but I’m just in the lower leagues compared to some people I think.”

Paddy meanwhile says: “I was eager to make a good impression on Keegan and tried to impress him with my honesty and my humour, maybe I went just a little too far!”

Viewers will have to wait and see what happens on tonight’s (Friday) Celebrity First Dates on Channel 4 at 9pm
