Olympic sailor Ben Ainslie and his presenter wife Georgie welcome their first child Bellatrix
The couple announced the arrival of their first daughter on Twitter
OLYMPIC sailor Ben Ainslie and his sports presenter wife Georgie have welcomed their first child, a daughter named Bellatrix.
A cute black and white snap was posted of the new family on Twitter by Ben’s sailing sponsors Land Rover BAR with the hashtag #BringTheBabyHome.
Announcing the news, they wrote: “Congratulations @AinslieBen @OfficiallyGT on the birth of your beautiful baby Bellatrix”
The happy couple then went on to retweet the picture in which a smiling Georgie, 38, is seen cradling her newborn.
Georgie said: “Our little star has arrived. Here she is with very proud Mummy and Daddy… Bellatrix Ainslie. #bringthebabyhome,” while Ben, 39, added “#proudestday”
As words of congratulations flooded in from their fans, a few queried the parents’ choice of name for their little one.
“bellatrix?!” said one follower followed by a row of confused emojis.
“u made that name up,” added another.
And while the name is the same as the character played by Helena Bonham Carter in the Harry Potter films, Bellatrix is also Latin for ‘The Female Warrior.”
Additionally, when it comes to astronomy, it is the third brightest star in the constellation of Orion.
Georgie, who previously dated TV favourite Declan Donnelly, married Ben at Hampton Court Palace in December 2104.
Ben is currently preparing to lead the British team in the America’s Cup Challenge.
