Shannen Doherty documents the moment she shaved her head during breast cancer battle in candid photographs

SHANNEN Doherty has bravely shown the world herself shaving her head, as she battles breast cancer.

The Beverley Hills 90210 star posted the emotional pictures on her Instagram, and showed different stages as she removed her hair.

The 45-year-old documented each step as she bravely took the decision to cut off her long locks as she continues her fight against cancer.

The pictures started off with Step1 with the star looking like she was on the verge of tears before her brunette hair was gone.

She then took her 252,000 followers through each process and .by step 5, when her head had been shaved, she was smiling with a friend.

Earlier, the star hinted that she would be making some changes, she posted a pic of a razor and some chocolates and wrote: “Cupcake pan, chocolates and a razor.... Stay tuned. @annemkortright has got this. #cancersucks #thankgodforfriends.”

The pictures will no doubt be an inspiration to other women who battling cancer.

Shannen revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in August last year and in February this year she opened up about her health battle during an interview with Dr Oz.

She explained she could no longer have children because of the treatment she is undergoing.

The raven hair actress also said at the time that the mass was still in her breast and she had not had surgery yet.

Her oncologist wanted Shannen to take medicine first to see if it would shrink the tumour.

At the time of the interview, the actress told Dr Oz she had not decided what type of surgery she will get.

“It’s between two of them and at the end of the day it will be up to my doctor and it could change the last minute.

Shannen rose to fame in the 90s playing Brenda Walsh in the hit teen TV show Beverley Hills 90210.
