Coronation Street’s Alison King returns to the cobbles to greet guests when the set goes on tour
A purpose built, inflatable showdome will hold authentic sets, props and memorabilia from the show
SHE left Coronation Street back in May but Alison King has returned to the cobbles as a virtual reality tour guide when the set goes on display.
Known for playing Carla Connors for 10 years, Alison will greet guests when they enter a purpose-built, inflatable snowdrome that will hold authentic sets, props and memorabilia from the popular soap.
The tour is kicking off in Glasgow from August 27 until January 1 and the plan is for it to then move to Belfast before hopefully touring across other parts of the UK.
There will be plenty for soap fans to see between Roy's Rolls to the Rovers Return which will have its own area where guests can take pictures at the iconic pub.
Speaking about reprising her iconic role as Underworld boss, Alison said it was "amazing" to be asked back to record a virtual reality tour for fans.
She told Metro: "I really believe that the Corrie fans will love it. If you love Corrie, you will love this!
"And it’s really nice for fans to see a familiar face.
"The old tour was such a success so I think it’s really great that there are taking it on and it was lovely to do that filming and be a part of it."
Alison, 43, gave viewers a sneak-peek inside the tour on Good Morning Britain this morning and gave Richard Arnold a preview tour of the set.
She said: ""It's so surreal being back here. I've done so many scenes here. I'm missing Roy's cinnamon buns!
"I think it's going to be lovely for people to walk through the sets when the show opens.
"We've literally packed up everything in a suitcase - memorabilia, costumes, props - and are taking it on tour. It's like you've never seen it before."
While fans were devastated to see Carla leave Wetherfield after her disastrous wedding to Nick Tilsley, Alison feels like the door is always open for Carla to return.
She said: "Carla has some amazing fans and they in turn become yours too – they’re so supportive and it means a lot.
"It’s nice to hear that people still talk about Carla – and she was an iconic character.
"The lovely thing is that the door is open to come back eventually. It’s nice to know she can slip back in at any point in the future – but not quite yet!"
