Love Island’s Chris Hughes says he’s happier without abs after packing on pounds over lockdown
LOVE Island’s CHRIS HUGHES says he is happier WITHOUT the abs that made him one of telly’s most lusted-after men.
The reality star admits he has found it “difficult” to stay in shape over lockdown.
Farmer-turned-influencer Chris — who stripped off to take an ice bath live on ITV Racing last month — said: “Some days all I want to do is just eat.
“When I did that ice bath challenge I was like, ‘God, my body does not look like it did four years ago in Love Island’.
“But I’m happy in my own skin. It doesn’t make me any less happy with what I am now.”
Unlike the stereotypical Love Islander, Chris hates going to the gym and won’t work out for very long.
He said: “If I’ve got a holiday coming up I might get in the gym for a month beforehand.
“But I don’t really enjoy going, if I’m honest. I just occasionally set foot in there for about 20 minutes and get out.”
He also said it “has not been easy” being alone in lockdown after splitting up from former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson last April.
On whether the end of the couple’s 15-month romance had put him off a relationship with another celebrity, Chris said: “If you’re both doing two different things within an industry it makes it harder to see each other at times.
“You might have a bond with somebody, so you can’t turn them down on the basis of whether they’re in the public eye or not because they could be the one for you.”
Chris, who has teamed up with dating app happn, added: “I’m open to anything really.”
Six-pack or not, that’ll be music to the ears of plenty.

Oscars in danger
SUNDAY’S Oscars ceremony is in danger of being the worst on record – with organisers downsizing the red carpet and increasing the length of the dull acceptance speeches.
In Los Angeles yesterday, the ceremony’s co-producer, Contagion director Steven Soderbergh, said it would be like a three-hour film for viewers watching at home.
He also teased that the ceremony’s presenters, including Halle Berry and Brad Pitt would be “playing a version of themselves”.
Steven added: “Masks are going to play a very important role in the story of this evening. That’s cryptic, it’s meant to be.”
Talking of face coverings, nothing can mask how bad this sounds.
Gemma calls on well-being guru Davinia
SHE has lost almost four stone and is launching a fitness empire this summer.
But along with transforming her physical health, I can reveal Gemma Collins is going all out to overhaul her lifestyle.
She has enlisted the help of Kate Moss' former best friend and reformed party girl Davinia Taylor, and is on a biohacking programme to align her blood sugar levels and hormones.
A friend said: “Gemma started following Davinia on Instagram and messaged her.
“Davinia started giving her some wellness tips.
“She’s now officially mentoring Gemma and has introduced her to the concept of biohacking.
“They’ve been food shopping too, with Davinia helping ‘The GC’ to choose healthy, organic options and full fats rather than sweetener-heavy diet options. Gemma is feeling amazing.”
Since going teetotal more than ten years ago, Davinia has reinvented herself as a well-being guru – and Gemma is hooked.
She has also been using the Wim Hof Method, which involves dunking yourself in cold water, and infrared saunas.
While Gem is putting the hard work in, her ex-boyfriend and fellow former Towie star James Argent has opted for the surgical option.
Last week Arg had gastric sleeve surgery and on Monday he was pictured out for the first time.
He looked in good spirits as he tucked into a bowl of soup with a friend at the Little Woodford cafe in East London.
Arg now has to live off a liquid diet for six weeks before spending the rest of his life only eating tiny portions.
Although biohacking sounds ludicrous, it’s a more attractive option than having half your stomach hacked off.
Louis livid over leak
LOUIS TOMLINSON has hit back after his previously unreleased song Help was leaked on the internet.
In the track, which is believed to have been written years ago, Louis sings: “Why am I awake in last night’s clothes? Why is there a street sign on the floor?”
Reacting to the news, he said: “I spent a lot of time crafting the right songs and the right sound. The fact this has been leaked is bulls**t.
“It’s a s**t song, now stop giving it attention.”
At least his more recent music has been better than that one.
Dua the booty queen
DUA LIPA enjoyed a well-earned sit down while wearing an oversized jacket and boots in this Instagram photo.
Today she was on Radio 2 discussing her performance at next month’s Brit Awards – which she revealed will be themed around her hometown of London.
Trying not to give away too much, Dua said: “It’s a little bit of a taste of everything. I am really rubbish at talking in code so I’ll stop there.”
Dua, nominated for three awards, teased what we can expect from her next record.
She said: “I’ve started thinking a little bit, but I guess still playing around trying to see what my next direction or step is. It feels good, I am excited.
“I just hope I grow and mature as an artist and just make music that people enjoy and resonates with them.”
Vogue's Stormzy upset
VOGUE WILLIAMS is hitting Stormzy where it hurts after he snubbed her – by refusing to listen to his music again.
She and her Made In Chelsea husband Spencer Matthews recently bumped into him and the rapper said hello to the reality star but ignored Vogue.
Spencer said: “I walked past him and we clock eyes and he’s like, ‘What’s up man, how are you doing?’ Gives me a big high-five in front of all his crew and I was like, ‘Yeah, things are good.’ He absolutely ignores Vogue. Vogue is like his biggest fan.”
Speaking on the Spencer & Vogue podcast, Vogue said he had “lost a fan”, adding: “Regardless if he didn’t know me or not, I think it was pretty rude, you’re meant to say hi to people.”
Annie quits Radio 1 job
ANNIE MAC has left Radio 1 after 17 years and is being replaced by mid-morning host Clara Amfo.
The station-wide shake-up was sparked after presenter Annie decided to walk away from her 6pm to 8pm weekday show so she can spend more time with her two sons and work on new projects.
Annie, who met husband Toddla T through her Radio 1 role, said: “It’s all about time, really.
“I need more time to see my kids in the evenings now they are both in school.
“I would like more time to write fiction and to create podcasts.
“I also love the idea of leaving the party (and make no mistake working at Radio 1 does feel like a party) with a huge smile on my face, when I am still having the most fun I can have.”
But hinting that she will join another station, Annie added: “I will be coming back to radio broadcasting when the time is right.”
She will host her last Future Sounds show on July 30 before Clara takes over.
Meanwhile, Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom and Charlie Hedges will become the new hosts of Clara’s show, Radio 1’s Live Lounge, from 10.30am to 1pm, Monday to Thursday.
A couple of hours’ work a day, four days a week, sounds like a dream.
Boomtown cancelled
BOOMTOWN has been cancelled amid Covid-19 fears, prompting concerns the live music industry could be once again ravaged this summer.
I had hoped that gigs and festivals would be back in England after June 21.
But the August event in Hampshire, which had already sold 66,000 tickets, was axed after organisers were unable to get insurance to protect them from further restrictions.
They said: “We would be gambling up to an eight-figure loss should the event not be able to go ahead due to Covid restrictions, which would put the future of the festival at risk.”
Hailey goes out in blazer glory
HAILEY BIEBER made sure she was the centre of attention by turning up at a meeting in a bright green jacket and pair of Daisy Duke shorts.
The model was snapped arriving in Beverly Hills, California, on Monday afternoon to chat through some work opportunities.
She might not have such a slim frame for much longer, though, as her husband Justin admitted he is eager for the pair to have children together.
Speaking to GQ, the singer said he always felt “compelled” to marry.
