Kate Garraway marks second Easter without husband Derek but says she’s thankful ‘he is still here’
KATE Garraway says she's thankful her husband Derek Draper "is still here" as she marks the second Easter without him.
She wrote on Instagram: "#happyeaster everyone - so hard that it’s the second we’ve lived through in Lockdown/restrictions and of course our second without Derek home with us.
"But he is still here so we have so much to give thanks for and there’s lots to hope for isn’t there."
She shared a picture of her neighbour who'd baked the family delicious-looking cake.
Kate added: "Our day started with sun shining and our wonderful neighbour who we call 'Cakesuzy' bringing round the most amazing #easter cake ever she had made herself!!"
Derek, 53, remains in intensive care a year after being struck down by Covid-19.
Today Piers Morgan revealed Kate has been reading his book, Wake Up, to her seriously-ill husband while he's in intensive care.
Kate's fans were heartbroken as they watched Derek sob "I don't want to carry on" in the ITV documentary Finding Derek.
He cried: "There's no way out, there's no way out."
Kate, who was at home with their two children, replied calmly: "What do you mean there's no way out? In terms of what?"
Derek said: "I've got to the point where I just think, f*** it. F*** it."
