David Platt left devastated in Coronation Street as wife Kylie dies in his arms

CORONATION Street bosses have released the final teaser photographs of Kylie's death ahead of her final scenes tonight.

The show has managed to keep how the popular character meets her grisly end top secret ahead of the emotional farewell, with only a few photos teasing how she meets her maker.

In the final two shots, David (Jack P. Shepherd) is seen in one running down the cobbles in a desperate bid to get to his wife.

However, the second photograph reveals David cradling his dead wife's body - confirming that she never makes it out of the street alive.

The harrowing moments are the last we see of Paula Lane, who has played the mum-of-two across the past six years.

She announced her decision to leave in February shortly after discovering she was pregnant with her second child.

Both Jack and Paula have promised that the final scenes will be like nothing the soap has ever seen before, with Jack calling them "the most moving scenes he has ever had to film".

He said: "When the cameras stopped filming I couldn’t stop crying the tears were very real.

"The script is superb, every word, every moment of the scene was exactly right."

Paula said: “It was very emotional to film the scenes knowing that I would never return and her death has huge consequences for David and all the family.”

The death of his wife will send troubled David back on a downward spiral he had previously come out of as he struggles to come to terms with losing Kylie.

Jack added: "David has to try and keep it together for the sake of the children but he wants to blame someone for what has happened.

"He is angry at the world, he and Kylie were so close to having the perfect life and now he is a single dad and a widower.

"He is lashing out and behaving in a way which really starts to worry his family.";

Kylie has been battling her demons over the past few months after killing Callum to protect sister-in-law Sarah Platt, in a shock reveal on the show’s live episode last year.

Since then, Kylie, Sarah and husband David have been desperately trying to cover up their tracks, and have put Jason Grimshaw's father Tony Stewart in the firing line.

Despite Tony being dead and the trio nearly being home and dry, Kylie has been uncomfortable with letting an innocent man take the wrap.

She suggests that the family leave Weatherfield and start afresh somewhere new to put the past behind them, but dies before they can follow through on her plans.

Fans were shocked when ITV revealed they would be killing off the character by releasing a teaser trailer of the storyline.

In it, Kylie can be seen hugging her friends and family goodbye as her luggage is packed into what appears to be a taxi.

Fans of the show were then left devastated after the camera pulled back and revealed it is actually a hearse.
