Vile abusers called the innocent tot 'disgusting'
SOAP star Nikki Sanderson has hit out at vile trolls who have sent online abuse to the mum of the toddler with Down’s syndrome who plays her daughter on Hollyoaks.
Eva Lorente, 2, whom Nikki affectionately refers to as 'Eva the diva', is is a regular on-screen addition to the Channel 4 show as smiley Minnie Blake.
Nikki, who plays Maxine Blake, revealed the tot’s horrific plight during an interview on Loose Women.
Speaking to panellists Katie Price, Andrea McLean, Janet Street-Porter and Coleen Nolan on the ITV daytime show, the 32-year-old vented her clear anguish and frustration.
She said: “My daughter on the show she is phenomenal; she’s beautiful, she’s two.
Her mum Alana says to me she gets some horrific stuff sent to her."
Nikki continued: “She was telling me yesterday that one of the ones she got off someone was ‘you should be ashamed of your daughter, she’s disgusting’.
“[Eva] is two, she’s TWO!”
RELATED STORIES
Nikki has also frequently found herself the victim of cyber bullies, especially where her relationship with her partner Greg Whitehurst is concerned.
The dark-haired beauty became a target when it came to light that she had been dating Greg just 10 months after he had got married.
Due to the close proximity of the relationships Nikki - who had attended his wedding to his ex - said many people just "presumed that I wrecked their marriage' when she explained that was not the case.
"Last year I got with my partner Greg. He was married not long before that. He actually got married in July 2014. His marriage came to an end through no fault of his own, and he was left heartbroken.
"It wasn’t much longer after his marriage broke down that we started dating and people, because they didn’t know his back story and didn't know what had happened, people presumed that I had broken his marriage up, that I had wrecked his life and his ex-wife's life.”
Then started the flurry of abuse.
When asked by Coleen why she didn’t just come off of social media, the dark-haired beauty – who has frequently been nominated for awards for her portrayal of Maxine – remained defiant.
She shot back: “Why should I come off it?”
More power to you, Nikki.
