The Curse of Towie

Chris Clark and new girlfriend hope to not fall victim to the ‘Towie curse’

Star has said that he is worried that the show will mess things up with his missus

Towie's Chris Clark has said that he is hoping his new relationship will be able to withstand 'the Towie curse'.

The hunk, who stars alongside his brother Jon on the show, has opened up about his budding new romance with a girl called Amber, who he met off-screen since the end of the last series.

But in a bid to keep their new love going, Chris has admitted he has had to confront the 'Towie Curse' - which is set to doom the relationships of those on screen.

He said: "We've spoken about avoiding the 'TOWIE curse' and said the main thing we need to do is communicate.

"If we talk to each other and are open about things then nothing can catch us off guard.

"Trust and communication is key. If you don't have either of those, you'll fail both in TOWIE and in life."

However, so far there have been a few who have managed to dodge 'the curse' with Megan McKenna and Pete Wicks looking stronger than ever as they enter the new series.

Lydia Bright and James 'Arg' Argent have not been so lucky however, and after years of an on/off relationship finally called it quits in January.

The Sun exclusively revealed that Lydia pulled the plug after Arg relapsed into a drink and drug addiction.

However, they were reunited during filming for the first episode of the 18th season - set to air on 17 July.

Towie's leading men and women have traded in their beloved Marbs and jetted over to Mallorca for some sun, sea and scandal for the start of the new series.

In footage obtained to The Sun Online, the former couple were seen rowing on a beach, with Lydia telling Arg "you disgust me" before walking away from him.

Can Chris have better luck?

The Only Way Is Essex returns this Sunday on ITVBe.
