Today marks exactly 20 years since the release of the band's debut single Wannabe, which catapulted them to international superstardom back in 1996.

However, they may have to continue as a three-piece for the first time in the band's history.

It is not yet known whether absent stars Mel C and Victoria Beckham will join the reunion gig, but the three singers reportedly hope to bring them onboard by the time next summer's gig comes around.

Mel did acknowledge the special date today by posting a throwback picture on her Twitter page.

She wrote: "Happy 20th Birthday #Wannabe you haven't aged a bit!"
