Serena Williams forced to bail on bridesmaid duties after quarter-final win at Wimbledon
Tennis star was due to be in RnB star Ciara’s bridal party
TENNIS ace Serena Williams’ quarter-final victory has ruled her out of bridesmaid duties for a superstar wedding.
The six-time champ was due to be part of US RnB star Ciara’s bridal party today, at a ceremony held at Peckforton Castle.
But her straight-sets victory over N21 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Centre Court means Serena, 34, is highly doubtful to attend the showbiz nuptial, as her semi-final is the following day.
A source said: “Serena is close pals with Ciara and gleefully accepted her offer to be bridesmaid.
“However, Ciara always knew her attendance would be Wimbledon dependent and as she’s one of the favourites, there was a high chance she would not attend.”
Ciara, 30, is tying the knot with NFL star boyfriend Russell Wilson, 27, at the Cheshire venue, despite having no link with the area.
