Who is Rick Stein’s wife Sarah Stein?

OVER the years Rick Stein has built himself an empire of restaurants as well as a successful TV career.

During his life the celebrity chef has been married twice and since 2011 he has been wed to his second wife, Sarah Stein.

Who is Rick Stein's wife Sarah Stein?

Hailing originally from New South Wales, Australia, Sarah Stein describes herself as an "Aussie restaurant, tv productions and bookshop owner".

She lives and works in Cornwall, with her celebrity chef husband Rick Stein.

Sarah co-owns Padstow Bookseller, a local bookshop in their home village of Padstow in Cornwall.

Rick met Sarah, then his Australian publicist, when she was working on a book tour he was doing Down Under in the early noughties.

At the time he was still married to his first wife, Jill Newstead.

The celebrity chef and Sarah had a five-year affair before Rick split from Jill in 2007.

When his ex-wife first spotted her husband's with his mistress in her home town of Padstow, she famously slapped Sarah and then Rick.

Speaking about the incident, Jill told the in 2008: "I just hit her.. I always knew I would.

"I was just so angry about everything.

"It might not have been the right thing to do, but it is what I did and I tell you when I did it, I felt so much better afterwards.

"I said: 'How dare you come here!'

"I was screaming at her like a fishwife.

"I slapped her with the flat of my hand, like that.

"Then Rick came up to me and said 'That was a bit stupid, wasn't it?' so I gave him a slap as well."

Responding to the incident, Rick told the Daily Mail in 2013: "I certainly would have preferred if that hadn’t happened, I can tell you.

"I remember at the time saying to Jill, 'That was a very silly thing to do.'

"But emotions were very high. It was bloody tough. It was horrid."

Rick added: "But, thank goodness, time moves on.

"Both Sarah and Jill have been in the same restaurant at the same time and it’s been fine and nobody’s been slapped!";

How many children do they have?

The couple don't have kids together, but they have five children between them from previous relationship.

Sarah has two children - Zach and Olivia - from her first marriage.

Rick has three sons with first wife Jill - Edward, Jack and Charles, who all work on their dad's business.

The eldest Edward is a sculptor, who now helps his mother with her interior design.

He helped with the renovation of the Winchester restaurant and the Cornish Arms.

Jack Stein is Chef Director of the Stein restaurants' menus.

He landed the role after travelling the world to train as a chef and has now launched his own cookery courses at Rick Stein’s Cookery School.

He is also a celebrity chef, and has appeared on Cooking With The Stars and Saturday Kitchen.

Charles is a co-founder of Vintners, a West London wine merchants which now supplies his father's restaurants.
