KATE Garraway has admitted not knowing how much her husband Derek will ever "fully recover".
The 53-year-old says the uncertainty surrounding his health has "impacted her dramatically" as she opens up about her "difficult" year since his coronavirus battle.
Speaking on 5 Years Times The Podcast by Darcy and Harry, Kate said: "I think it's been a really tough year for everyone, hasn't it?
"Everyone is hoping 2021 will bring a little hope and relief.
"The vaccine is here now so everyone is hoping that will help covid and help everyone regain some normality.
"It's been really tough for us because Derek got really sick in the beginning of March.
"Even though we're hoping he can recover it's taking a very very long time.
"We don't know how much he can recover.
"That's impacted on us obviously, dramatically. It has been really difficult."
Derek was hospitalised with coronavirus in March last year and, despite fighting off the disease, is still in intensive care.
The Good Morning Britain host last week admitted she is struggling to be a single parent to their two kids Darcey, 14 and William, 11, in his absence.
Speaking to Kate said: "“I’m not sure I am coping! I honestly don’t know how single mums do it; it’s just so hard.
"A lot of the time I find myself thinking, ‘What would Derek say?’ and ‘What would Derek do?’"
Kate has been warned by doctors that her husband "may never come out of his coma".
Her telly co-star Piers Morgan revealed this week: "We know from our colleague Kate Garraway, whose husband is still in a coma from Covid…
"He may never come out of that coma.
"She's been told this, and it's heartbreaking. It has hit right here on our show."
