Mick Norcross was ‘happy’ just days before his tragic death that sent ‘shockwaves’ around Essex, say stunned neighbours
MICK Norcross was "happy" just days before he was tragically found dead, his neighbours have claimed.
The former Sugar Hut owner and Towie star's death has sent "shockwaves" around Essex, after he sent a final tweet saying: “At the end remind yourself that you did the best you could. And that is good enough.”
Mick - who lived in Bulphan - was developing a historic Manor House less than a mile from his home, as well as a luxury new-build housing estate just yards from where he lived.
Kevin Mead, 57, who lives nearby in Brentwood Road, Bulplan, told The Sun: “He was a lovely fella. He loved the area and was a big part of the local community.
“He was involved in a few building projects around here and seemed to love getting out there and taking on a challenge.
“I hadn’t seen him in quite a few weeks, which was unusual as you’d often see him out and about or driving one of his cars.
“It’s heartbreaking to hear what’s happened, I guess you never know what someone’s going through.”
Paula Hearn, 55, who also lived nearby, said: “Everyone knew Mick, he was very approachable and always up for a chat.
“Even when he was on the telly he was still the same bloke. I have no idea what his poor family must be going through. They were very close.”
Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “I can’t believe it, he was a big family man who would always be talking about what his sons were up to or his grandkids.
“He had everything to live for and a family who adored him, it’s so sad.
“I used to say hello to him if he walked past but I hadn’t seen him since before Christmas. I assumed that was just because of lockdown. “
"Hearing the news was devastating, it’s sent a big shockwave through the community.”
Another neighbour added to the : "Some people said they only saw him on Sunday or a few days ago and he seemed OK. He seemed happy and friendly.
"Everyone is really, really shocked by it."
The devastated Towie cast are planning a joint virtual tribute to Mick who they described as the most lovable man and a "surrogate father" to everyone.
A spokesman for the show today said: "Everyone at TOWIE is shocked and deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of Mick’s death.
"He was hugely popular with cast, crew and the audience alike.
