Posing with a clapperboard while filming a promo for the new series, the boys looked happy to be back.

"Dapper clappers at your Saturday Night service," they posted on Instagram.

"A lil’ peek from promo filming to tickle your fancy. Excited!?"

Fans rushed to praise their favourite TV duo for "saving 2021".

One viewer commented: "I so can't wait to see what sort of mad plot you've cooked up for us this year! Looks rather, erm, interesting...."

Another said: "Can’t wait brilliant nice to see you lads stay safe take care clot of love to you both."

Last year the award-winning pair overcame the obstacles posed by the coronavirus pandemic and are now even better placed to work using new methods.

Studio audiences won't be part of the series once again, with lockdown banning gatherings and all but essential travel.

Ant and Dec's latest purple patch has also seen them release a hilarious new ad for bank Santander.

The pair turn into pixellated videogame characters in their spoof 'Bank of Antanddec'.
