Andre Romelle Young, known professionally as Dr Dre, is a rapper and record producer who was born on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California.
He first rose to fame as a member of the rap group N.W.A. and went on to co-found Death Row Records in 1991.
The following year, he released his first solo album which took the charts by storm.
A few years later, in 1996, he founded Aftermath Entertainment, which has signed several big stars, including Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
In 2006, Dr Dre then took his passion for music and turned it into a side business known today as Beats by Dre.
