Rochelle and Melvin bow out of Xtra Factor by parodying David Cameron’s resignation speech
The presenting duo lost have been replaced by Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson
ROCHELLE Humes and Melvin Odoom have passed on the Xtra Factor baton in the best way possible.
My brilliant pals are not returning to host the X Factor spin off show this year but they're having fun with the sad news by making this brilliant mocked up video.
The duo announced the decision stood in front of their very own Downing Street dressed in matching suit and tie – a scene reminiscent of prime minister David Cameron's resignation following the Brexit result last week.
Rochelle began their heartfelt speech: “Good afternoon Great Britain, over the past three weeks the people over at the Xtra Factor have been tasked with making a monumental decision.
"We both have done everything we can to steady the ship up until this point but it’s now time for a new captain to steer the ship to its next destination."
Melvin added: “We have spoken to His Majesty Simon Cowell to discuss next steps we will be taking.”
Rochelle continued: “We love the Xtra Factor and feel honoured and proud to have served it as hosts and we wish the new team every success in the future.”
Coming aboard in their place is Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson, who will finally front the show after being axed for Olly Murs at the last minute back in 2011.
Matt said: “I am unbelievably excited about joining The Xtra Factor this year, not least of all because on my first day Louis Walsh walked into my dressing room topless, unannounced.
“I regard this as the definition of ‘living the dream.'”
Fans of Rylan Clark-Neal shouldn’t worry as he is still in the running to host Xtra Factor after I revealed last month he had been approached for the role.
An X Factor source said: “Discussions are still ongoing as to whether he will join Matt.”
He gets my vote.
