TORI Spelling and husband Dean McDermott mourned his sister Dawn's death from cancer.

The 54-year-old actor said his late sister suffered "unrelenting pain" in a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram.

shared the news of his sister's passing in an Instagram post on Monday.

Alongside a photo of Dawn smiling, Dean wrote: "In the early morning of December 12th our beautiful sister Dawn Marilyn McDermott got her angel wings.

"For over 6 years she fought so hard against the cancer that invaded her body.

"As her body betrayed her and brought her unrelenting pain everyday, she never complained once.

Signatures from the family were placed at the bottom of the card, which explained Dean was in Canada.

Tori addressed her husband's absence from the photo, writing: "Although Dean is away for work, we did our best to incorporate him.
