Oasis stars Liam & Noel Gallagher pocket £5.4m from band despite not performing

LIAM and NOEL Gallagher’s relationship is in such tatters that not even a £100million offer was able to get them to reunite.

But that hasn’t stopped them making plenty of money off the back of (marginally) happier times.

The warring brothers netted £5.4million in the past year from their OASIS back catalogue alone — impressive given it is 11 years since the band’s split.

In addition to the sum banked by their Big Brother Recordings firm, the pair are also directors of Oasis Merchandising Ltd, which has an extra £107,000 in its coffers.

An industry source revealed: “The figures are incredible given Noel and Liam haven’t had a record out together for over a decade. It’s a testament to Oasis’s superband status.

“In an age where people can stream their music for free or just watch it on YouTube, it shows people are still willing to buy their records. And that’s great for the boys’ already sizable bank accounts.

“They’ve got to be one of the most profitable duos that can’t stand to be in a room together.”

Big Brother Recordings took over the UK licence of Oasis’s hits from Creation Records when the lads’ first manager, Alan McGee, quit to set up his internet label Poptones in 1999.

Oasis classic Go Let It Out was the first song released on the Big Brother label, which Noel named after himself in a dig at his parka-wearing younger sibling.

He told The Jonathan Ross Show: “I’m thinking, ‘I’m not a d***head, I’ll have a bit of that’. He’s not into it, is he. He’s after a knighthood, isn’t he.”

Liam added of Noel: “We’re both the problem and the problem is that he thinks he’s not the problem. He thinks I’m both the problems. I’m half the problem, I can’t be having him thinking I’m the full problem. He needs to take on some of the problem.”

OK, I see the problem. Liam continues to behave like he hasn’t followed the same evolutionary trajectory as the rest of us. But there’s no denying his new solo single, All You’re Dream-ing Of, is brilliant.

The poignant ballad has really caught my mood this week and shows him at his soulful best. If only he could extend some of that sensitivity into the rest of his life . .

Gary now in the movies

THINGS initially went downhill for Gary Barlow after Take That split in 1996.

But while the group are taking another break, his solo career is continuing to reach new heights

Not only did he go to No1 on Friday with his fifth album Music Played By Humans, which he celebrated with an award, right, he is soundtracking three films.

He has revealed he is been working with famed composer Hans Zimmer – who masterminded the soundtracks for Pirates Of The Caribbean and The Lion King among others – on new music for Hollywood.

Gary said: “I’ve done two films recently, not whole scores but two songs for one and one for another. I’ve always wanted to work with Hans Zimmer. He’s done all the main compositional work and I’ve worked with him on the song. That’s been so much fun. I thought I was a hard worker but he’s put me to shame.”

On the third movie project, he told the Sodajerker On Songwriting podcast: “I’ve got this long-term movie which I’m doing all the music for, so I am writing every day at the moment and absolutely loving it. I feel like I’ve just started again.”

Gary has also embraced lockdown. He said: “All the people I know who are creatives, it’s given them a new lease of life. I guess that’s what the arts does, it picked everyone up and it’s the first one to charge forward. I feel like everyone’s gone into overdrive.”

Cardi shows her shy side

CARDI B is going to catch a cold wearing her coat like this. The Wap rapper dropped her black fur jacket to expose her rear in this see-through outfit.

She shared the photo on Instagram after saying how shy she was. Cardi said: “I’m really shy to reach out to male artists. That’s why a lot of collabs I want I haven’t gotten yet because I’m scared to reach out. I always get a little star struck. I’ll be thinking I’m corny, even though I’m funny.”

She added: “When it comes to me writing or putting ideas of my personal life in the music I get really shy.

“When I perform songs like Be Careful or Ring I usually close my eyes because I get shy about showing that lovey-dovey side.”

She looks pretty confident here.

Lew tour was s-nuts

UP-and-coming band The Snuts have told how terrifying it was opening for Lewis Capaldi on his last nationwide tour.

Lead singer Jack Cochrane says the gigs were some of the Scottish band’s toughest because of Lewis’s die-hard fan base.

The Scottish group, also made up of Joe McGillveray, Callum Wilson and Jordan Mackay, are from Lewis’s home town of Whitburn and said that while joining him on tour wasn’t always the easiest, they were inspired by his success.

Jack explained: “We toured with Lewis last year, it was a tough crowd and they pushed us out of our comfort zone but it was fun. It’s especially hard opening for Lewis because he’s like f***ing Jesus Christ. It was a learning curve for us.

“Being able to see the success of Lewis at the start for us as a band was really inspiring. To see someone from our small town stand up and be counted has inspired so many people in our generation.”

The Snuts, who hope to head out on tour in April following the release of their debut album W.L on March 19, formed at school.

Jack said: “This album really is a lifetime body of work.”

The Prom

NEW musical The Prom hits Netflix on Friday and Meryl Streep stands out as the biggest star.

Having a laugh at her own expense while promoting the film, about Broadway performers who help campaign for a high school to allow a lesbian go to her prom, she said: “It was such a stretch playing someone so vain, a big, fat narcissist. I don’t know where I pulled it from.”

Meryl has a number of big songs on the soundtrack, which is already out.
She continued: “I love playing that kind of character because I am all of those things probably, but I am not a diva. Those are big shoes for me.”

Dua's two goods

DUA Lipa was double parked after scooping both the Best International Album and Best International Artist gongs at Spain’s LOS40 music awards.

The singer wore this leather mini dress to perform Levitating and virtually accept the gongs on Saturday, having jetted back to the US last week to be with her boyfriend Anwar Hadid.

She has not stopped this year, with the release of her second album Future Nostalgia, a remixed version of the same record, a string of hit singles and a livestream show last month which was watched by more than five million people.

Next up there will be a deluxe edition of her album in 2021 with extra collaborations and, when it is allowed, a tour as well.

I hope she’s got a few weeks off for Christmas, because I can’t see her schedule easing any time soon.

Walt's up with Kate?

UNDERWORLD actress Kate Beckinsale swaps her latex jumpsuit for a boiler suit to imitate Breaking Bad’s Walter White.

Kate put on the yellow costume and beard for the surprise homage, and quoted show co-star, Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman, by captioning the snap: “You’re my free pass, b***h.”

Luckily, Kate and pal Nina Kate didn’t score anything harder than popcorn and beer for their dress-up binge watch. Kate recently exposed abusive messages she had received from a Trump supporter on Instagram.
