Lorraine Kelly stunned as George Clooney serenades her on her 61st birthday while she relaxes in her slippers
LORRAINE Kelly was left stunned as Hollywood actor George Clooney serenaded her on her 61st birthday yesterday.
The star was caught off-guard as she interviewed the actor via video chat from her home- dressed casually in a pair of comfortable slippers.
The TV favourite shared a video of 59-year-old George singing to her on today's episode of Lorraine, where she still appeared to be in disbelief.
Speaking to the show's celebrity correspondent Ross King, he said: "I thought I would send you the best birthday present ever but our head of film beat me to it and sent you George Clooney!"
Lorraine beamed: "He sent me George Clooney all wrapped up, and George Clooney sang to me!"
A video of the moment was then shared, with Lorraine seen sitting in front of her Christmas tree at home in a festive knit jumper.
George can be seen looking smart in a black shirt against a plain black drop, with the hunk asking the presenter: "It's your birthday?"
Lorraine replies: "It is my birthday…" with George quick to celebrate on her behalf, explaining: "I'm going to tell you right now, we have a Clooney birthday song that we sing and it goes like this…"
The actor then sang the unique song, which started with the lyrics: "Well they say it's your birthday, that's what we've been told, what a wonderful birthday, you're another year old".
When he finished the performance, he smiled: "See, there's a different birthday song", with grinning Lorraine evidently stunned.
She added to Ross today: "Honestly Ross, I was sitting there in my living room in my slippers with a cup of tea! It was utterly, utterly surreal.
"We knew he was a delightful man but he just proves it time and time again."
The message from George was probably all the more exciting for Lorraine as current lockdown restrictions mean that she wasn't able to celebrate her birthday properly - instead having a low-key night in with husband Steven Smith.
On yesterday's show, she took a swipe at pop star Rita Ora for flouting lockdown rules to host a 30th birthday party with 30 guests at the weekend.
Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid had asked: "Are you having a small get together?"
Lorraine replied: "Yeah, it's just what everyone is doing apart from Rita Ora."
She later added: "I could have 61 people for 61? That would be quite nice when it's all over"
Today, Piers Morgan slammed Rita after she issued an apology for the party, which was held in a London restaurant that shouldn't have even been open during lockdown.
He claimed that the singer was "only sorry she got caught", with Rita's fans overwhelmingly agreeing as they blasted her actions online.
