MORE people have watched Netflix drama The Crown than saw the real wedding of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer on TV in Britain.

Almost 29million globally logged on for the fourth series, which centres on the royal couple, in the first week after its November 4 release.

That is 600,000 more than watched TV coverage in Britain of their big day in 1981.

Netflix does not officially publicise figures until a month after a show first comes out — and 21million saw the third series in that period.

However, it has, told members of the cast which includes Josh Connor, 30, as Charles and Emma Corrin, 24, as Diana.

A source said: “Everyone involved is totally thrilled.”

The widely-hyped series, starring Olivia Colman as the Queen, is also based around the Margaret Thatcher years - played by Gillian Anderson.
