Pop sensations Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue to duet together for online show
THEY have had two of the most popular albums of 2020 and now pop superstars Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue are teaming up.
I am thrilled to reveal the Aussie legend will join the New Rules singer on stage this Friday as Dua stages an impressive show called Studio 2054, which will be broadcast live online from a massive warehouse.
It will have a series of custom-built sets, with Kylie as the extra-special guest.
It’s sure to delight fans of the pair, who have been teasing this year how much they would like to work together. Dua, who wore this white mini-dress to virtually attend Sunday’s AMAs, told me: “I am beyond excited to reveal that the legendary Kylie will be performing with me.
“She is one of my all-time heroes and female artists and the idea of collaborating with her is what pure dreams are made of. I adored her headlining show at Glastonbury and can’t wait for her to join us at Studio 2054.”
Kylie said: “Dua is a shining light and a force of nature in pop and I’m absolutely thrilled to be performing with her at her livestream — we’re ready for the disco!”
Just last week Kylie, whose new album Disco went straight to No1 on its release this month, declared she wants to collaborate with Dua, adding: “She is definitely having a great time.”
The British singer, whose second album Future Nostalgia went to No1 in April, declared her love for Kylie in May, adding that her favourite of all her songs is 2003’s Slow.
It’s a big week for Dua — today she is also expected to feature in the list of Grammy nominations, which are announced at 5pm. Her gig on Friday, which you can buy tickets for at , will also see her joined by Miley Cyrus following the release of their collaboration Prisoner, as well as Fka Twigs, J Balvin and Bad Bunny.
I’m told it promises to deliver a euphoric blast of happiness — and let’s face it, that’s exactly what our Friday nights need right now.
Artist of the Year
DESPITE scooping the Artist of the Year gong, Taylor Swift skipped the ceremony to continue re-recording her old albums.
The 30-year-old is remaking her records after the rights to her back catalogue were sold, meaning she no longer has ownership or control of the original hits.
In a video message while accepting her prize she said: “The reason I’m not there tonight is I’m actually recording all of my old music in the studio where we originally recorded it. It’s been amazing and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
Praising her dedicated fans, she added: “You guys have been beyond wonderful all the years of my career, but especially this one. Your reaction to Folklore and all the ways in your imagination honoured that album . . . I just love you so much. I’m really, really lucky.”
A-list audience are on board with Covid-safety
THE stars were out in force for a socially distanced American Music Awards in Los Angeles.
Dua Lipa performed her single Levitating from London’s Royal Albert Hall, where she, well, levitated.
The Weeknd, who got three gongs, sported bandages in an anti drink-driving message promoted with his album After Hours and single Blinding Lights.
Taylor Swift was artist of the year, while Cara Delevingne presented Dua with the favourite pop song award for Don’t Start Now.
Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry with Darius Rucker, and BTS all performed, but Cardi B had to skip the event – to go to the dentist.
The Covid-free “audience” at LA’s Microsoft Theatre featured cardboard cutouts of A-list stars, including Dolly Parton, Jay-Z and Beyonce.
J-LO'S 'RIP OFF'
JENNIFER Lopez faced a backlash after singing Pa Ti and Lonely, with viewers claiming she had ripped off a performance by Beyonce.
They said her production with Maluma was similar to one Bey did with hubby Jay-Z at the 2014 Grammys, where she also wore a cutout black bodysuit and had short, wet-look hair.
One tweeted: “J-Lo . . . Beyonce already gave us this performance and did it better.”
But another fan wrote: “You’re joking, right? It’s homage to Cell Block Tango from Chicago (the movie/play, NOT the city). It predates both [their] careers.”
Britney Spears’ boyfriend Sam Asghari reckoned the act was similar to Brit’s video for her single Slumber Party.
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly made their red carpet debut as a couple and she introduced his performance with Travis Barker of the songs Bloody Valentine and My Ex’s Best Friend.

Jack gets his Rox on with lockdown girl
HOME is where the heart is for Jack Whitehall, who moved his girlfriend in after just two weeks of dating.
The comedian says model Roxy Horner came to live with him in his London home as they couldn’t bear the thought of being apart when the UK went into lockdown in March.
Jack said: “Weirdly that was quite nice because we spent a lot of time together and it accelerates the relationship in a way.
“Then when lockdown ended, there’s a lot of things we realised. We’d never gone out to see a film together. We’d never been to a restaurant in England because we met in Australia.”
It’s a good thing Roxy has proven to be a good match for Jack, as he admitted he usually attracts weirdos. He told the Couples Quarantine podcast: “I’m loony bait. I’ll tell you a story of a date I had that went badly.
“I was having some food with this girl, and this guy came over and he said, ‘I’m James Corden's cousin’. At that point he sat down, then the date became a three-way situation. About 25 minutes into the conversation he dropped in that he was also Jamie Redknapp’s cousin. I was like, ‘Oh no, I messed this up’. He was a complete fantasist.”
SHAWN'S VOID
SHAWN Mendes released his Netflix documentary In Wonder yesterday and it’s a self-indulgent cringefest.
The Canadian is filmed with girlfriend Camila Cabello and when she tells him she loves him, he embarrassingly replies: “I know.”
It is void of any revelations in 83 minutes and ends with him having to cancel a single show in Brazil due to a sore throat.
Roman saved at George’s holiday pool
ROMAN Kemp nearly drowned in George Michael’s pool when he was just a toddler.
The Capital breakfast host and 2019 I’m A Celeb finalist, who is the late singer’s godson, was dragged out of the pool in the South of France by his horrified dad, Spandau Ballet bassist Martin.

Recalling the holiday in It’s A Love Story, his upcoming autobiography with singer wife Shirlie, Martin wrote: “There were ten of us around the pool, in George’s house in St Tropez, keeping an eye and an ear out. Just as I allowed myself to nod off I suddenly found myself sitting bolt upright.

“I hadn’t heard a sound or seen a splash, but when I looked at the pool I realised Roman was under the water, not moving.” Martin, who jumped in to pull him out, continued: “He hadn’t been there for more than a couple of seconds but it was long enough to terrify me. Amazingly, he was fine.
“I was devastated. For the next couple of days, I found myself crying almost constantly. I couldn’t stop thinking about what could have happened and the consequences if I’d been too late.”
