I’m A Celebrity’s Beverley Callard went vegan ‘to avoid eating animal willy’ says Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson

I’M A Celeb’s Beverly Callard has gone vegan ‘so she doesn’t have to eat animal willy,’ says Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson.

The 46-year-old Steve McDonald actor – who plays Bev’s on-screen son – opened up on Loose Women about how he thinks his co-star is getting along on the popular ITV show.

Beverly Callard’s on-screen son Simon Gregson admitted she’s only vegan so she doesn’t have to eat awful things during the trials

Earlier this week Beverly, Radio 1’s Jordan North and telly presenter Vernon Kay all had to get their teeth stuck into some pretty awful things during the eating trial.

The boys had to chomp down on a range of things including sheep’s brain, cow’s tongue, a deer’s testicle and even a sheep’s penis, whereas the Corrie star has the pleasure of eating some fermented plums, five cubes of fermented tofu and a vomit fruit dish.

During his stint on the daytime talk show, Simon was quizzed about Bev’s veganism, to which he replied: “Yeah! You see Rebecca her daughter is vegan.

“I’m sure Bev has done it for all the right reasons, health and to save the planet. If you believe that, I’m a mango!”

Presenter Linda Robson joked: “Are you sure so it’s just so she doesn’t have to eat anything disgusting?”

Simon, who has portrayed Bev’s on-screen son 21 years, added: “I’m pretty sure it’s because she doesn’t have to put a willy in her mouth, yeah.”

Bev made her first appearance on the popular ITV soap back in 1989, alongside co-star Simon as Steve McDonald.

Back in November 2019 it was revealed that the actress was leaving the show after 30 long years.

She made her last appearance on the Cobbles in June, but due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, Beverly was unable to film her final scenes.

Her departure was addressed during an episode a month later, where Leanne spoke to Steve about their son’s struggle with mitochondrial disease.

The Leeds-born star has left to go on tour with comedy play The Thunder Girls and also take part in the 20th series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

But it’s not all bad news as The Sun Online exclusively earlier this month that Bev’s planning an explosive Coronation Street return next year.
