Jordan North signed up for I’m A Celebrity because his mum is ‘desperate for a new kitchen’
JORDAN North signed up for I’m A Celebrity because his mum is "desperate for a new kitchen".
The Radio 1 DJ, 30, has vowed to help out his mum by buying her a luxury new kitchen.
The Yorkshire-born presenter confessed that he plans to spend his earnings on his mum during his first I'm A Celebrity interview.
The radio star joked that he was convinced to take part in the ITV show as he wants to splash the cash on his mum.
Asked why he'd signed up, Jordan said: “I've watched it since I was a kid. Plus, let's be honest, 2020 has been a tough year for everyone. So, it's something different.
"I had quite a six months during lockdown and if I'm honest, my mom wants a new kitchen.
"So I said, if all goes well, I'll help her get a new kitchen."
Jordan's best pal DJ Darryl Morris also confirmed that his friend is keen to spend his cash on his mum.
Speaking on Steph's Packed Lunch, he said: "Wendy his mum is desperate for a new kitchen, that tells you a lot.
"He likes a challenge, he likes to push himself, he is genuinely terrified but I think the idea of overcoming those fears and proving to himself that he can do it is a big part of it."
Co-host Radio 1 DJ Ariell Free also denied that her pal was faking his fears.
She said: "Before he went in, I said he was 100 per cent going to be the biggest calamity on TV.
"I don't quite know how he's managed to survive life so far. I don't think he knew what he was letting himself in for."
Darryl added: "He's claustrophobic, he hates heights, he's terrified of flying, this is him. But to be fair to him, he's taken on his biggest three fears - snakes, small spaces and heights within the first two shows. That's incredible, he can do anything."
Jordan has become a fan favourite and will likely win over more fans with this sweet gesture.
Proud mother Wendy is rooting for Jordan and even teased fans by saying that she has been voting for her son to do the trials.
Wendy said that she is voting for him to do BushTucker trials because he's "gone soft" since moving out.
Speaking on the latest episode of the , she said: “I think he has softened a little bit. I love him to bits but he’s a right b*tch when he’s cold.
"He just does not talk to anybody. He just goes in on himself and moves himself away. That might be tricky around the camp fire.”
