THESE days Tom Hiddleston is known as a heartthrob – who looks amazing in his pants and has won the heart of one of the world’s most famous popstars.
But the 35-year-old wasn’t always so cool – in fact he was a “total geek” who had no luck with the ladies according to his pal.
And a series of pictures which have emerged from his youth reveal an awkward looking youngster with a mop of curly hair and an inquisitive expression.
The images reveal that actor – who is in the running to be the next James Bond and is dating Taylor Swift – was a house caption (of course) at school, which just so happened to be the prestigious Eton College.
Other pictures show his early foray into acting – including when he played Randolph Churchill in The Gathering Storm, which was released in 2002.
At this stage he still rocked a curly hair style and was yet to fill out into the hunk who is happy to pose in just his pants – as he did for his last photoshoot.
Speaking about his changing look one of Tom’s former classmates told the that he was considered a “boff”.

They said: "Tom has had an incredible transformation. At school he was a total geek, he didn’t have any girlfriends and was quite awkward. His parents were in teaching and he wasn’t a cool kid. He was very into his studies and worked really hard. He was a class boff.
"The most rebellious he got was when he tried to grow his hair long and teachers pulled him up on it. He had a slightly odd fashion sense as well, he wore purple trousers, and his favourite T-shirt outside of school uniform was a tie dye T-shirt which changed colour when you breathed on it. He wasn’t very cool."
These days Tom looks nothing but dapper when he steps out onto the red carpet in an array of designer suits.
His new girlfriend Taylor is of course no stranger to dating someone who has undergone a ‘mansformation’.
Calvin Harris, who she split from earlier this month just weeks before going public with Tom, was also known for his geeky appearance before he hit the gym, buffed up and had a complete makeover.
Meanwhile Tom previously felt the need to defend his time at the school, insisting it is not just "full of braying toffs".
He said: "People think it’s just full of braying toffs, who are arrogant and chauvinistic, senseless and ambitious, who are destined to run the country and steal all our money. It isn’t true. There are a few people like that but that’s one or two in a school of 1,200. It’s actually one of the most broadminded places I’ve ever been.
"The reason it’s a good school is that it encourages people to find the thing they love and to go for it. They champion the talent of the individual and that’s what’s special about it."
