Jesy Nelson to miss tonight’s MTV EMAs with sickness as Little Mix host music spectacular without her
JESY Nelson will miss tonight's MTV EMAs with sickness as her Little Mix bandmates host the music spectacular without her.
The 29-year-old star was also forced to skip last night's final of the band's BBC talent show The Search.
It was announced last month that the popular girl group will be hosting the annual European Music Awards, where they are also up for four gongs, and will deliver a "special performance".
Yesterday, a spokesman for the band confirmed in a statement: "Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final of Little Mix The Search.
"She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow’s MTV EMAs."
The news came just one day after the group released their sixth studio album, Confetti.
Jesy had also appeared alongside her bandmates on the semi-final of The Search on Friday evening, which was pre-recorded last Saturday.
Fans were left in tears as they watched Little Mix perform without her on last night's final and they flocked to Twitter to send their well-wishes to the absent star.
Host Chris Ramsey told viewers at the start of the show: "Unfortunately Jesy is unwell tonight so won't be joining us, but she will be rooting for all of the bands from home."
Later in the programme, Since September were crowned winners of the series - and will join Little Mix on tour next year.
In October, Jesy, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock expressed their excitement at hosting the EMAs, which will take place in several locations around Europe due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
They said at the time: "What an honour! To present the MTV EMA’s is a dream, it's such a special event.
