GOGGLEBOX is in hot water over homophobic comments and for comparing Bill Bailey to a 'sex tourist'.

A decent chunk of complaints to Ofcom this week about the Channel 4 show came over Giles' scathing review of Bill's attempts to Cha Cha with his Strictly partner Oti Mabuse.

The live audience and viewers at home have loved the comedian's colourful performances on the BBC dance show.

Last week he did the Cha Cha to Pata Pata by Miriam Makeba while wearing a chequered shirt and yellow trousers and even played a bit of piano for good measure.

But Giles' was less than impressed and had a unique take on Bill's performance.

"He looks like a sex tourist. Look at that movement Mary," he told his wife.

Mary agreed saying it was: "Embarrassing."

While viewers flocked to Twitter to laugh at Giles' gibe, many people were not impressed and took to the media regulator complained.

An Ofcom spokeswoman confirmed to The Sun Online that, complaints "were mainly about alleged homophobic comments and 2 complaints about Giles’ description of Bill Bailey as a 'sex tourist'."

Bill was a surprise addition to the Strictly lineup this year and joked,  "I'm not really Lord of the Dance... I'm more the caretaker."

Bill has said his late mum, Madryn, loved watching Strictly and was his motivation for doing the show.

Bill said: "I am delighted to be a part of this year's unique Strictly Come Dancing. My late mum Madryn would have loved it - I hope she'll be watching.”

Madryn died in 2005 after a battle with bowel cancer and Strictly is not the first time Bill has honoured his mum in a big way.

Since her death he has worked hard to raise awareness of the illness, but also to raise funds for research.

The comedian has participated in multiple 100-mile walks to raise money for the Stand Up To Cancer charity.
