PHILLIP Schofield was asked out on a date by Strictly star Rev Richard Coles in a live radio interview yesterday.
ITV star Phillip was on Radio 4’s Saturday Morning Live to discuss his autobiography Life’s What You Make It, when the vicar offered to go for “dinner” with him.
Richard, 58, asked: “If you’re looking for a bit of company Phillip? Broadcaster, gay, in his middle years. Drink, dinner?”
Phillip replied: “Are you asking me out?”
Co-host Shaun Keaveny added: “I feel like a bit of a gooseberry now.”
Listener Minnie Stephenson tweeted: “Rev Richard Coles asking out Phillip Schofield LIVE on @BBCRadio4 just then, beautiful, bold.”
Richard, a member of 1980s band The Communards and who starred in Strictly in 2017, lived with civil partner Rev David Coles, who died last December.
During his appearance on the show, Phillip — wed to wife Steph since 1993 — told how he was “unsure” about the future.

He came out live on This Morning in February.
Phillip added: “The future looks unsure. It’s a work in progress.
“I don’t actually know to be honest. I’m living every day as it comes.
“We all love each other and see each other. As a family we will take that forward.”
