KATIE Price is in a race against time to marry boyfriend Carl Woods after her terminally ill mum Amy gave him her "seal of approval."
The Sun Online revealed yesterday that 42-year-old Katie will finally be divorced from ex husband Kieran Hayler this week - over two years after they split.
And an insider has now revealed that the star is in a rush to marry her new man so that Amy can be at their wedding day.
The source told us: "I think the reason Katie is in such a rush to marry Carl is the fact her mum is very ill.
"Amy likes Carl - she gave him the seal of approval at the weekend as she can see how happy he makes Katie and how much the kids like him. That's all she wants - to see Katie in a happy stable relationship.
"So part of the reason Katie is rushing forward in the relationship is the fact that her mum is so ill and Katie would love her to be at the wedding if she's well enough."
A rep for Katie confirmed: "Amy has given her seal of approval and Carl does have all the hallmarks of good husband material
"With Amy’s condition being terminal, time is a reality factor - there is no way Amy would not to be present to see her daughter marry Carl.
"Amy’s birthday was a happy event, despite her illness she made the most of her day with the family around her."
Carl, 31, sparked engagement rumours at the weekend when he attended Amy's birthday and referred to her as his "mother-in-law".
The hunk spent quality time with Katie's extended family, with the pair both getting coronavirus tests done beforehand so that they could safely visit her mum on her special day.
Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017, the illness causes scarring to the lungs which reduces the sufferer's ability to breathe and there is currently no cure.
She spoke openly about her diagnosis on Loose Women at the time, and said she could only have two or three years to live.
In July, Katie revealed that Amy's condition had worsened and she was struggling to breathe as she continued to battle the lung disease.
Katie previously offered to donate one of her lungs to help prolong her mum's life, however, Amy turned it down as she didn't want to put her daughter at risk.
Amy lives in Spain as she has found that the warm weather helps with the condition, and Katie visits regularly.
Before Katie found love with Carl, Amy delighted her daughter with an inspirational keyring that urged her to "look forward" and "never look back".
What is idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)?
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a condition in which the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult.
It's not clear what causes it, but it usually affects people who are around 70 to 75 years old, and is rare in people under 50.
Several treatments can help reduce the rate at which IPF gets worse, but there's currently no treatment that can stop or reverse the scarring of the lungs.
The symptoms of IPF tend to develop gradually and get slowly worse over time.
Symptoms include shortness of breath, a persistent dry cough, tiredness, loss of appetite and weight loss, rounded and swollen fingertips.
