A sleepy selfie saw Frankie cuddling her eldest, and she wrote: "Was in a&e last night with this little guy... with yet another croup attack... doesn't matter how many times it happens...

"To see someone grasping for air is always terrifying. Breaks my heart. But he's absolutely fine now... all just very sleepy..."

Croup is a condition that typically affects babies and young children, irritating the upper airways and causing them to swell making it harder to breathe.

It is identifiable through the distinctive cough which sounds like a dog's bark - it can also have a harsh, painful-sounding noise when the child breathes in which is known as "stridor".

What is croup?

Croup is a condition that occurs in young children and babies affecting their windpipe (trachea), the airways to the lungs (bronchi) and the voice box (larynx).

Typically croup is identifiable through the distinctive cough which sounds like a dog's bark - it can also have a harsh, painful-sounding noise when the child breathes in which is known as "stridor".

In most cases, croup is a relatively mild illness which can be treated at home under the advisement of your GP.

When your child or baby is stressed it is best to keep them upright and comforted as crying can make the symptoms worse.

If your child develops breathing problems as a result of croup, doctors in A&E will often give them oxygen and a shot of adrenaline to ease their breathing problems.

Most cases of croup will clear up within 48 hours but in some cases they can last as long as up to 2 weeks.

Croup is spread in a similar way to the common cold and so it is very difficult to prevent.

In most instances it is a condition that can be diagnosed easily by your GP and then treated at home.

However, if the airway gets blocked and there's trouble breathing, it may need a trip to an A&E department.

Frankie's youngest son Carter, five, was none the wiser this morning as he emerged full of energy in his Chelsea pyjamas.

The mum-of-two posted: "This guy however. Slept all night. Had no idea what happened. So has me up after 3 hours and is full of beans."

And the former Saturdays star couldn't help but laugh when she went to pep herself up with a cup of tea only to find her bag was tealess.

Frankie recently revealed that she's desperate for a third baby - but husband Wayne joked he'll "move out" if she gets pregnant.

The 31-year-old has been thinking about having another child so that her two sons have a younger sibling to play with.

The former pop star has lifted the lid on whether or not her plans in the near future include another cute little family member.

She said: "Wayne is having none of it! He was like 'if we have another one I will either move out or go and get a job I don't care what it is, I will just get a job...'

"So I was like: 'that’s a no then?'"
