Coronation Street’s most shocking deaths from Tina McIntyre to Sinead Tinker to Richard Hillman

IF Coronation Street was a real place, it's a guarantee that noone would live there.

With the residents dropping like flies, we take a look back at the most epic -and unconventional - ways series regulars have kicked the bucket, and how they've scarred us forever.

Richard Hillman (2003) 

In a storyline that had soap lovers hooked for the best part of a year, Gail Platt's businessman husband Richard Hillman was seen going on a secret, bloody rampage.

Protecting his new "family" at all costs, he offed his ex-wife Patricia, killed Maxine Peacock, and tried to do in Emily Bishop and Audrey Roberts as well.

When he was busted by Gail, she dubbed him "Norman Bates with a Briefcase" -  and two weeks later, he tried to kill Gail, her two children Sarah and David, and granddaughter Bethany by gassing them in the car.

But his plan was rumbled and he drove his people carrier into the canal instead.

While the others got out alive, he was left to drown for his crimes.

Sinead Tinker (2019)

There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Sinead passed away surrounded by her family.

The factory machinist succumbed to cancer in October 2019 after a long battle in an hour-long special episode that saw her final moments.

Fans were left sobbing across the country as she took her final laboured breath while husband Daniel cradled their baby son Bertie.

Tina McIntyre (2014)

Tina pushed her luck too far when she was left heartbroken because of an affair with Peter Barlow.

Despite him being married to Carla Connor, Tina had planned to run away with him and start a new life.

However, those plans ground to a halt when she discovered that Carla was pregnant - and Rob Donovan was left begging her to keep quiet about her extra-marital activities for the sake of the baby.

But as Tina threatened not not only expose the affair, but Rob's dodgy business deals with Tracy Barlow, Rob saw red.

They rowed and Rob pushed her, causing her to fall from a balcony onto the cobbles.

However, it wasn't the fall that killed her - when Rob found her still alive, he finished her off with a metal pipe. Classic.

Rick Neelan (2019)

Loan shark Rick Neelan finally met his match when Gary Windass beat him to death in the woods.

The brute had tried to lure Gary to his own death but the former soldier out-witted him and left him buried in a shallow grave.

It was Gary's first proper murder - having already caused Rana Habeeb's death - albeit accidentally. Speaking of...

Rana Habeeb (2018)

It's one thing to die in a factory collapse, it's another thing to die in a factory collapse on your wedding day while wearing your wedding dress with your new wife desperately holding your hand.

But that's how nurse Rana said goodbye to the cobbles back in 2018.

Fans know Gary Windass was responsible for her death - but no-one else does... yet.

Alison Webster (2000)

Alison's death was one of the most tragic moments in Coronation Street history - mainly due to her backstory than what happened.

The depressed and guilt-ridden character thought she had finally found a chance to be happy after marrying Kevin Webster in 2000.

However, after giving birth to a baby that later died, the distraught factory worker stole baby Bethany Platt and went on the run.

When Kevin found her, he convinced her to hand the newborn back, and unable to go on after what she did, she threw herself in front of a moving truck.

Charlie Stubbs (2006) 

Actor Bill Ward is probably better known now for heading up the Barton family in Emmerdale, but he made a name for himself as Tracy Barlow's ill-fated builder boyfriend Charlie.

The love rat had previously been in an abusive relationship with barmaid Shelley Unwin, but the pair split when she jilted him at the altar.

Charlie began dating Tracy in December 2005,  but he cheated on her with ex Shelley and Maria Sutherland.

He should have known better than to mess with the Barlow lass though - and after discovering his infidelity she staged a fake seduction in her living room before clobbering him over the head with a statue.

Callum Logan (2015) 

Callum Logan was not the nicest of men, but all sorts of trouble started when his body was found hidden under the annex of the Platt family home.

The evil drug dealer met his maker in the dramatic live episode to mark the show's 60th anniversary in September 2015.

After attacking ex-girlfriend Sarah Platt - who was pregnant with his child, though no one knew this at the time - his former lover Kylie Platt whacked him over the head with a wrench.

With the help of other members of the family, the pair had then tried to dispose of the body.

Kylie Platt (2016)

The Platt's have never had it easy during their time on Coronation Street - and Kylie's death was another blow to her troubled husband David.

In July 2016, just as they were saying goodbye to their loved ones and moving to Barbados, Kylie was caught up in an armed robbery gone wrong and was stabbed in the heart by thug Clayton.

David is then left wailing as she took her final breath before bleeding out on the cobbles.

Cradling her in his arms, Kylie declared: "Tell the kids I love them," before dying before the ambulance could arrive.

As a result, devastated David went on a revenge rampage and slipped into a deep depression for months.

Alan Bradley (1989)

We were recently reminded of nasty Alan Bradley's death when his daughter Jenny rescued little Jack Webster from nearly suffering a similar fate in Blackpool.

Alan was one of the most famous villains Weatherfield has ever seen after ruthlessly ruining Rita Fairclough.

He seduced her for her money, impersonated her dead husband and later assaulted her and tried to kill her when she discovered his deception.

Back in 1989, Alan was killed by a tram while chasing distressed Rita, who had fled to Blackpool after suffering a breakdown.

Tommy Harris (2005)

Tommy's death was less than ceremonious after he was bludgeoned to death by his daughter Katy.

The pair got in a fight after he continually bad-mouthed her ex, Martin Platt, and she locked him with a wrench.

Katy had recently aborted her and Martin's baby after hearing from her parents he'd been having an affair with Sally Webster.

When this was discovered to be a lie, Katy was distraught - and Martin rejected her advances when she tried to patch things up.

Confronting dad Tommy about his lie, Katy became incensed and eventually shut him up for good.

Jack Duckworth (2010) 

Jack and his wife Vera were cobbles legends - and it broke millions of hearts to see Vera die in 2008, just days away from heading to their planned dream retirement in Blackpool.

The devastated husband decided to stay in Weatherfield and be around family, before he died of cancer in 2010.

On the night of his death, he saw the ghost of Vera in their living room  - and the couple shared a heart-breakingly romantic final dance.
