Big Brother’s first winner Craig Phillips films new show of him building his dream home
BIG Brother’s first winner is celebrating 20 years since his triumph by letting cameras film him building a dream house.
Craig Phillips revealed the new fly-on-the-wall show is at the centre of a channel bidding war.
In an exclusive interview, he said: “They’ve filmed the whole process of it and I still haven’t seen a single minute of footage yet.
“We’ve built our dream house and have two more filming days, then the interviews of the journey. It’ll be on early next year and will be my next big TV launch.”
Craig put in a smart meter to help monitor energy use, to make the house as eco-friendly as possible. He is now an ambassador for the Smart Energy GB and Homebase 'Green Aisle' campaign.
His latest show isn’t the only thing he hasn’t managed to watch. Craig said he still hasn’t seen his series of Big Brother, despite sitting down to watch it with his wife.
He said: “I suggested to Laura we dig out the footage I was given when I left. We laughed about it as Laura was still in school when I was in it.
“Then we realised we didn’t have a VHS tape, so we couldn’t play it.”
Craig is as down to earth as he was 20 years ago.

Jim digs crew K.O.
TV farmer Jimmy Doherty is thrilled that filming his latest series does not involve crew camping out on his car park.
The presenter of Channel 4’s Jimmy’s Farm, which returns on Wednesday at 8pm, admitted coronavirus restrictions had made his autumn instalment easier.
He said: “Things have got better since springtime, when all the crew had to live in the car park in their own camper vans and be totally isolated.”
He added: “They’re all living in separate houses now in Ipswich, but we still get quite close as they all muck in and know the animals really well.”
