Piers Morgan clashes with his son over coronavirus after Spencer, 27, insists we need to ‘get on with life’
PIERS Morgan clashed with his son over coronavirus after Spencer, 27, insisted we need to "get on with life".
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, disagreed with his son on the right approach to deal with the recent spike in cases.
Britain is currently recording more than 12,000 new cases a day, with 478 people hospitalised on Sunday.
Spencer wrote on Twitter: "Increased testing really has exposed the lie of a Covid hasn't it. Can't believe it's actually turned out to be not much more deadly than flu, just way more contagious."
He added: "We either lockdown forever or get on with life. There is no in between at this stage. Any other measures just delay the inevitable."
However, Piers took issue with the second tweet, saying: "No. There absolutely is an in-between option: suppress the virus as best we can until there's a vaccine or drugs that stop people dying.
"But do that we need a testing system that works... and a population prepared to tolerate sensible not absurd lifestyle restrictions."
Spencer disagreed again, adding: "Na. We just need the vulnerable 1% to shield properly and give them financial/emotional support until better medication/vaccine."
Later on, Piers took issue with President Trump's comment comparing the coronavirus to the flu, which thousands of people die of every year.
Trump wrote: "Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!"
In response, Piers wrote: "More people have already died from Covid-19 in America this year than have died from flu there in the last 5yrs COMBINED. And that's with available flu shoots. Coronavirus is not the bloody flu."
Spencer then wrote: "But how many people have had it than have had flu?"
Piers often clashes with famous people over their views on COVID.
He labelled Loose Women's Denise Welch a "covidiot" for her beliefs on the coronavirus.

Denise has long hit out at the 'scaremongering' the media caused surrounding the the deadly bug, suggesting the dangers have been exaggerated.
She has been staunchly criticised by Piers who called her "dumb, deluded and dangerous", and many people on Twitter for her views.
