Scarlett Moffatt pays herself £240k a year after landing podcast and fashion deals

SCARLETT Moffatt helped herself to a £240,000 dividend this year after another bumper 12 months.

The telly favourite, 30, is now a millionaire after making it big on Gogglebox and I’m A Celebrity.

The Queen of the Jungle has also become popular for the quirky fashion sense she often shows on her social media, with the star raking in a fortune from ad work including plugging fashion chain Peacocks.

However, Scarlett has been very careful with her new-found wealth.

For the last two years she has paid herself a £240,000 dividend from her income so she doesn’t get clobbered by the taxman.

Despite this she still handed over £100,000 to the government in tax this year.

But accounts for the firm that handles her TV and media work warn that she could suffer from the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The books – filed this week – reveal: “It is not possible to reliably estimate the duration and severity of theses consequences, as well as their impact on the financial position and results of the Company.”

Her accounts show a cash surplus of £299,417 for the period to 31 January this year and in 2018 she paid herself £448,000.

The telly beauty also set up her own firm Northern Unicorn Productions in January 2017 to handle cash from her TV and commercial work.

Scarlett has rarely been out of the spotlight since first appearing on Gogglebox in 2014.

She has gone on to snap up high-profile presenting gigs and even landed her own podcast called Scarlett Wants To Believe with boyfriend Scott Dobinson.

The TV star revealed during her 2016 stint in the Aussie jungle that she’d been able to pay off the mortgage on her parents’ house in County Durham with her earning power.

Scarlett reportedly earned £70,000 to appear in the jungle but became one of the most sought-after names in TV after her bubby personality shone on the show.

Talking about paying the cash on the house in Bishop Auckland, she revealed: “I paid off the mortgage on my mum and dad’s house for them.

“Oh it was the best. I just wrote them a letter and said, ‘thanks for being mint’, and ‘sorry for leaving fake tan all over the house’, and then I put a cheque in for them.”

The job offers rolled in for Scarlett - she became part of the panel for  Holly Willoughby's quiz show, Play To The Whistle and was also snapped up by Channel 4 for a revival of Streetmate.

Her first official presenting gig was even bigger, though - she co-hosted the prestigious National Television Awards in 2017 alongside Dermot O'Leary and landed the job of I'm A Celebrity Extra Camp presenter.
