DANNY Cipriani has revealed his fiancee Victoria Rose has tragically lost their baby at 24 weeks.
Taking to Instagram, the rugby star explained that he was excited to become a father - and they had even named their son River.
"At 24 weeks we lost River, our son," he wrote.
"Was and is always going to be difficult, but we supported each other through it and found our love grew and got strong.";
Danny admitted it's been a "challenging year" and the grief has brought up old trauma.
"It’s been a challenging year, for many different reasons," he said.
"I’ve had to emotionally overcome and heal in different ways that I haven’t experienced before.
"In doing so it brought up old trauma and wounds that were unresolved."
Remembering back to earlier this year he wrote: "The most beautiful thing happened, I was going to be a father and I fell in love. Deeply in love."
Danny explained to fans that this wasn't a "sad" post and he's now trying to stay positive and focus on rugby and spending time with his future wife.
"This break now from last season and reflecting is a special place to be," he said.
"I’m more determined than ever to keep growing learning and loving with my woman.
"I’m also locked in to represent myself the best I can on the field which to this day I still don’t think I have done... The future is exciting it’s going to take hard work. I’m ready."
Last month Danny hinted that he's already tied the knot with financée Victoria, 39.
Just weeks after announcing their engagement, the loved up couple teased her name change in a cryptic Instagram post.
Danny, 32, captioned a stunning snap of Victoria Rose and wrote: "Introducing @victoriarosecipriani - pinch myself every day! 🙏🏽❤️".
The post was then filled with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow athletes, as they noted Danny's surname had been added to Victoria Rose's Instagram handle.
Former boxer Anthony Ogogo said: "Lucky guy, lucky girl. I wish you both all the happiness in the world 🙌🏽.";
While one fan wrote: "Aww congratulations to you both! 💍".
Another added: "Congrats brooo!! 💍".
Last month Danny revealed he'd proposed to Victoria after just four months of dating.
He wrote on social media: "You make me the happiest man in the world.
"I love waking up with you every morning, not knowing which one of our personalities is going to arise, and how we fall in love with each other over and over again.
Victoria shared a snap of her in bed with Danny with him kissing her hand. She wrote: "Mrs Cipriani to be" with a ring emoji.
The mental health campaigner is a mother-of-two.
She fell pregnant at 14 and could be mistaken as a sister to her daughter Jade Austin, 24, who became a mum herself four years ago, which will mean Danny will also take on the role of step-grandfather.
Victoria is also mum to a 14-year-old son.
Danny's past high profile relationships have including Kelly Brook, 40, and Katie Price, 42.
Vicoria recently spoke about her relationship with the athlete, describing herself as "lucky".
She wrote alongside a black and white snap of herself with Danny: "I lay back every night feeling completely grateful for my perfect Family and amazing Friends.
";I wake up every morning appreciative that I am lucky enough to spend another day with all the people I love."
